Roblox DIG only recently came out of early release and players already have the first update in the form of the Traveler’s update. This update also adds the Blood Moon event, meaning that you get access to quite a lot of content. However, there seems to be a lot of confusion around the event and everything that you can do. Not to worry, we have you covered! In this guide, we’ll go over everything you need to know about the Blood Moon event so that you can make the most of it. Without further delay, let’s get into it!
Blood Moon Event Guide
The Blood Moon event is part of the Traveler’s update, so we’ll be looking at the major content additions brought to both with both of them.
However, our goal is to cover everything related to the event so you know what to do once it drops. Keep in mind that the Blood Moon event occurs every 4 hours. We’ll go over the exact details later in the guide.

Blood Moon Event Overview
The Blood Moon is a limited time event that features a blood moon that spawns every 4 hours across all the game’s servers. During the blood moon, all items that you dig up have a 20% chance to have the Clawed modification.
The Clawed modification gives a x1.5 sell value to all items.
Here are the exact times when the Blood Moon event occurs. Keep in mind that the times are in UTC:
- 12AM – 4AM – 8AM – 12PM – 4PM – 8PM.
When the blood moon event is near, you will get a notification in chat telling you that it’s near. As of now, you cannot manually cause the event to spawn.

During the Blood Moon event, a new merchant will arrive at spawn known as the Skeletal Merchant. This Merchant only sells Blood Moon Crates which cost an expensive $700. These crates are the only way to get the limited Blood Moon items.
So, if you’re looking to turn a profit we recommend avoiding the crates, especially since you can get them from the Dire Wolf Boss. However, if you’re looking to complete your Journal, the Blood Moon Crates are the fastest way to do that.
Keep in mind that the Skeletal Merchant is only available during the Blood Moon event.

New Boss
When the Blood Moon event spawns, the new boss shortly spawns after. This is the Dire Wolf boss and he has a guaranteed chance to spawn at the Cinder Cavern when the event goes live.
He can be found pretty close to the elevator shaft – so you won’t have to go far.
The Dire Wolf is quite tanky with 55,000 HP and you only have a limited time to defeat him. This is why we recommend that you use the Beast Slayer with boss damage charms, so you can defeat him as quickly as possible.
Once you defeat the Dire Wolf, you can get the following drops from him:
- x1 Fanged Shovel – 20% chance
- x1-3 Dire Scepters – 100% chance
- x1 Dire Wolf – 15% chance
- x1 Sticker (Blood Moon) – 5% chance
- x1 Sticker (Dire Wolf) – 10% chance
- x4-7 Blood Moon Chests – 100% chance
- $2k – $3.5k – 100% chance
- 1.2k – 1.4k XP – 100% chance.
So, if you’re trying to complete the Journal, you will need to fight the boss multiple times as some of the items are unique only to him. You can also get Blood Moon Chests from here if you’d rather save your money.

New Location
There is also a new location added, known as the Observatory, as part of the Traveler’s update. You can find it by heading to the Copper Mesa island. Simply go past the Alona Jungles and climb the mountain via the ladders.
At the the end of the mountain, you’ll be able to find the Observatory. Interestingly, you can even find a moon symbol in front of the door.

Inside the Observatory, you’ll find an NPC called Roger Star. Interacting with him just results in some strange lines. You can interact with the telescope next to him to look at the sky, which we’re guessing allows you to look at the Blood Moon.
Right now, it’s not immediately clear whether the only purpose of this area is to look at the Blood Moon, or perhaps there will be some quest here. Hopefully, with time, it will become clear.

Wrap Up
That’s everything you need to know for the Blood Moon Event guide for Roblox DIG. Since it is a limited time event, we encourage you to make the most of the event at all the times it spawns in the rotation. Try to farm the boss, dig as much as you can, and open crates so that you can complete the Journal.
Be sure to grab the Beast Slayer shovel especially, because of its insane boss damage. You might need that boss damage for future bosses too. Of course, you can utilize the Clawed modification to turn a profit as well.
