We all know that joke on how the best video games are the ones with a fishing mini game. It’s a running joke in certain video game communities and even for developers. Fishing mini games can be fun though in the right game genre, like farm life simulators and MMOs. Fishing to get collect fish or get money in Stardew Valley is relaxing and leveling your fishing in Runescape or FF14 can be addicting.
In Roots of Pacha, one of the newest farm life simulators out there, you can also fish. In this guide, we’ll show you how you can fish in the game and what tool to use. So, let’s get started because the fish aren’t going to catch themselves!
How to Fish
If you want to catch fish in Roots of Pacha, you should know what to use and how to do the mini game. It might come as a surprise for you, but you don’t use a Fishing Pole to fish!
Here’s how to fish in Roots of Pacha:
- Equip your Handaxe;
- Go to a body of water and press Left Click;
- Play the Fishing Mini game;
- Catch a fish!
The Trusty Handaxe
If you’ve played these kinds of games before you might think that you’ll need a fishing pole to fish in Roots of Pacha. You actually don’t need it, all you need is the first tool you get at the start of the game, the handaxe!
Equip your Handaxe and go to a water source. To the northwest and west of where you start in the game is the closest. Go on top of the water and with your Handaxe equipped, press left click.
You can fish on any spot on the water just as long as you can stand on it. That means places like the shallows going to the Savanna and the many riverside areas in the Forest can be fishing spots.
Fishing Mini Game
That will start a fishing mini game and it’s quite easy to learn! When you see a fish on the screen hover your mouse over it. In doing so the bar below the fish will fill up, when it’s full and it says “CATCH NOW” you can press left click to catch the fish! The bar fills up the closer the cursor is to the center of the fish while some fish take longer to fill up their bar.
Sometimes the game tells you to “MOVE AWAY” that means moving your cursor away from the fish. Failing to do so will spook the fish and make it swim away, not letting you catch it. Once that’s gone make sure to get the cursor back on the fish as soon as possible to not waste progress.
There are also obstacles in the mini game like rocks and plants that will stop the progress bar from increasing when a fish goes under it. You can still keep the cursor inside the circle around the fish if it’s possible when they go under obstacles, to keep the bar moving.
That’s how you fish in Roots of Pacha, it takes a while to get used to fishing but I know you can do it! Fish is a great way to get some contributions for the game, another way is through farming crops.
To farm crops though you’ll need to water them. In our guide on watering plants, we go in-depth on how to do just that so make sure to check that out!
