Navigating the Volcanic Zone for Mithril Ore can be particularly tricky, so I’ll also cover how to survive its harsh conditions and make the most of your mining trips. Ready to dig in?
How To Get Every Ore Guide & Location
Ores aren’t just shiny rocks—they’re the backbone of crafting, upgrading, and even trading in the game. From early-game resources like copper and iron to platinum and mithril for advanced crafting, knowing where to mine efficiently can make or break your progress. Plus, let’s be real—there’s something satisfying about uncovering a rare ore deposit and stocking up for future upgrades!
Copper – Beginner Ores
Alright, so starting from Wayshire, if you head in the opposite direction from town—whether on foot or using your mount—you’ll quickly come across the first mining cave. This is the Copper Cave, and as the name suggests, it’s packed with copper. Not sure what copper is used for exactly, but hey, the cave is right here for you to mine!
Iron – Early Game Ores
Now, from Wayshire, if you head diagonally in the direction shown in the clip below, you’ll find the Iron Cave. Look out for two big trees as a landmark. Just keep following, and you’ll get the quickest way possible. With a mount, this is much faster! Once you spot those trees, the Iron Cave is just beyond them. Jump up here, and there you go—tons of iron ready for mining!
SIlver – Mid Game Ores
For Silver Ore, start from Wayshire as well. Get on your mount or run past the inn, then jump down. You’re looking for a specific area. A good landmark is a bird that spawns nearby, and if you miss that, look for a crocodile in the water.
Now, go around the left side, jump up here, and you’ll see a structure up ahead. Once you pass the crocodile, just keep going, and the cave right is where you’ll find silver.
Platinum – Advanced Ores
As for Platinum, you’ll need to start from Lakeshire. Take the lift up. Once you’re off the lift, climb up the path behind it, and you’ll reach an entirely new area. The Platinum Cave is just to the right. If you have a silver pickaxe, you can start mining right away! As for gold, ruby and sapphire there’s a small chance you get them from mining platinum ores.
Mithril + Bonus: Volcanic Ice Shards – End Game (?) Ores
If you’re looking to mine Mithril Ore in Rune Slayer, you’re going to need a solid plan—because this isn’t your average resource run. The Volcanic Zone is a brutal environment, and without the right preparation, you won’t last long enough to mine anything.
How to Survive the Volcanic Zone
Before you even think about mining Mithril, you need to get Volcanic Ice Shards. These can be used to craft a special ring that increases your heat resistance, making survival in the Volcanic Zone far easier. Without it, you’ll have to rely on tons of healing potions, which can be expensive and inefficient:
- Bring a Lamp: Visibility in the Volcanic Zone is low. If you have a Ruby, craft an upgraded lamp for better vision and a buff.
- Use a Mount: You need to move quickly in this area, or you’ll burn alive.
- Stock Up on Potions: Even with the ring, the heat is intense, so have healing ready.

Once you enter the Volcanic Zone, your first goal is to find Volcanic Ice Shards. Head towards the cave near the lower sections of the zone. Inside, you’ll find deposits of these essential shards. Harvest as many as you can, since they’ll be useful for crafting and survival.
- Imps patrol the area, and they’re a pain. Try to avoid them if possible.
- Don’t stand on molten ground—you’ll take constant damage.
- Move quickly, or you’ll overheat fast.
Once you’ve gathered enough Volcanic Ice Shards, craft the heat-resistance ring. Now you’re ready for the real challenge—finding Mithril Ore. Now that you have your ring, it’s time to mine Mithril Ore. This resource is found deep in the Volcanic Zone, scattered across dangerous platforms. Look for green-ish rocks—that’s Mithril Ore.
This is where having a mount really helps—you need to stay mobile and avoid burning hazards. Mine as much as you can, but don’t get greedy—dying means losing everything!
Wrap-Up
Ores are the key to stronger gear, better weapons, and faster progress in Rune Slayer. Whether you’re just getting started or hunting for late-game resources, having a reliable mining route will make your journey smoother. Take your time, mine smart, and stockpile those resources—you never know when you’ll need them for that next big upgrade.
