After almost a decade of waiting, the sequel to the original The Forest game is finally out. If you’re looking to survive the dangers of Sons of the Forest, the shotgun is an excellent weapon choice – it’s quick and deals an immense amount of damage. Let’s make it even better!
This guide will walk you through the process of obtaining the Shotgun Rail. This will enable you to add attachments to your shotgun, and having this will increase your chances of survival in the dangerous place that is the cannibal island you’re venturing through in the Sons of the Forest.
Sons Of The Forest – Shotgun Rail Attachment Location
Warning: The shotgun rail is in a mutant-infested cave so make sure to come prepared for combat.
Along with combat equipment, you’re going to need a Maintenance Keycard in order to go through one of the doors and get to the shotgun rail. If you don’t have the card, check out our website for a guide on how to get one – we’ve got you covered!
You want to head to the northwest part of the map. Right above the lake, there’s a point of interest on the map as shown in the image below.
The entrance to the cave is next to a couple of golf carts. Loot around, then enter the cave.
Once you enter the cave, head straight forward until you reach a maintenance entrance.
Descending down the ladder will put you in what appears to be an abandoned storage room. On the right side of the room, you will find a door with an electric lock, this is where the Maintenance Keycard comes into play. Use it to unlock the door and keep going.
Move forward through a total of 3 rooms that appear to be abandoned underground plant farms. Once you put those behind you, you’ll have to swim through a flooded part of the underground structure.
It’ll be a while until you get to the walking part again. Move forward and follow the only path available to you. There are no detours until you reach the door shown in the image below.
Don’t go past the door, go through instead, and as Dory says in “The Nemo” – just keep swimming!
Soon enough you will find yourself in a room that was likely used by security that was guarding the whole structure. Seeing as the whole place is flooded and raided, they seem to have done a terrible job.
You’ll recognize the room if you see a bunch of screens, all showing camera footage. As you enter the room, the shotgun rail will be on a shelf on your right. Pick up the rail and equip it.
To do this, you want to combine the shotgun and the rail in the crafting section. If you have any attachments ready, you can then combine the shotgun with them as well. If you don’t have any, we’ve got you covered!
