Should You Play Last Epoch Patch 0.9?

With so many ARPGs out there and so little amount of time, it gets difficult to choose a title that you’ll stick with, especially if they’re still in development. Last Epoch, however, is one of the few exceptions as the devs seem to have no trouble keeping up with the promises they make to their player base.

An 84% approval rate on Steam should already be a good enough sign to reel in thirsty RPG aficionados who enjoy a good time sink. Above all that it’s zero pay-to-win, a rare occurrence in the video game industry!

Keep on reading if you’re hurting for more information about the game and what it has in store for you.

Last Epoch – Should You Play Patch 0.9?

If Blizzard has left a hole in your heart with what they’ve done to Diablo and you’re looking for more content after going through Path of Exile, then the Last Epoch should live up to your expectations rather easily, regardless if the game is still in early access.

Overview

If you’re familiar with how ARPGs work then you’ll know that the game is pretty fast when it comes to pacing. You go through dungeons pretty quickly and you can die the same way if you’re not careful with how you move around.

You do have to go through with character creation first, with 5 classes to choose from and 15 mastery classes to plan for later, it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if you’re left wondering what efficient build can you go for before diving in.

Time travel plays a huge role as well, especially in the endgame as you tear holes through time and space, uncovering Eterra’s past in the name of unsanctioned looting!

Multiplayer

Dungeon or just adventuring, in general, is made more fun with the most recent patch as you now can enjoy the game with a party! There are some things that aren’t ironed out completely yet, however.

For example, when one of your three party members decides to head in a different direction, everybody else in the party will get a loading screen regardless if you went with that party member or not.

Splitting with your party in the same session will have to wait, for now, you have to stick with your friends to not throw off anybody who’s in the middle of fighting.

Think of it like playing DnD, you’re basically giving the Dungeon master a severe headache due to managing a party that’s prioritizing exploration rather than progressing the story.

Optimization

Optimization is a bit of an issue as well, especially if you’re the type who enjoys using every crumb of resource their PC can allocate. The game takes a lot out of your PC once you start chaining one too many of your attacks.

But those are being addressed as the devs constantly communicate with its players through their steam page and their official Discord server.

Should you play now or later?

The content that the game has right now is pretty promising, if you like playing games after seeing the current state they’re in along with the treatment they’re receiving from both the community and the developers then Last Epoch is definitely worth getting for what it is right now.

The game is currently in a good place, there’s a good mix of endgame content between dungeons and Monoliths compared to everything it had two years ago.

So if you like playing alone or teaming up with friends, go and grab a copy now as the game is too promising to be bought on a sale!

Here we have Alexis, he's been gaming ever since the second Famicom came out. Which is probably the reason why he goes back to platformers every now and then. Somewhere down the line he started getting more and more fascinated about looking at maps change colors for three to eight hours straight. If he's not out strategizing and beating the life out of his space bar in that order there's a good chance you can find him playing an FPS or talking someone's ear out about how game balance gets in the way of realism. You can tell that he really likes getting the full experience of whatever he gets his hands on.
