Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – Research Tanalorr on Koboh via the Stone Spires Guide

The race to Tanalorr has begun.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor continues the story of Cal Kestis, the main protagonist of Fallen Order. In Survivor, he continues to fight against the Empire, as well as finding a safe place for him and his loved ones. Tanalorr is the perfect place for Cal and his friends to settle down. But he’s not the only one looking for Tanalorr, as others are searching for the fabled planet as well.

In this guide, we will show you how to complete find Tanalorr by researching it on Koboh, so you can help Cal stay one step ahead in the race.

Research Tanalorr on Koboh via the Stone Spires Guide

You will get this story objective way into the game. Researching Tanalorr will require you to go back to Koboh and into the destroyed settlement.

Here are the steps to completing this story objective:

  • Head to the Devastated Settlement.
  • Complete the orb puzzles.
  • Acquire the High Republic device in Dagan’s retreat.

Head to the Devastated Settlement

Once you get the story objective, the first step is to reach the Devastated Settlement. You will start at Rambler’s Reach, right next to the Mantis on the landing pad.

To get to the Devastated Settlement, you will need to head to the Riverbed Watch area first. It is highlighted on your map.

Grab a Nekko and use it to bring you there. It will take less time as the Nekko is faster than Cal’s sprint.

Once you reach the Riverbed Watch, find the Relter that is perched on the edge of the cliff here. Use it to glide down to the other side of the chasm. This will take you to the Igneous Fissure, which is an area closer to the Devastated Settlement.

Once at Igneous Fissure, there is only one way to go but up. You can see that there is also a Meditation Point at the top waiting for you, so you can meditate there and unlock a new fast travel point.

After meditating at the Meditation Point, you will need to continue forward until you use another Relter to glide down into the Devastated Settlement.

Upon entering the area, you will encounter your first Bounty Hunter boss. Defeat the boss and you will get your first Bounty Puck.

Complete the Orb Puzzles

Now that you have made it to the Devastated Settlement, your next objective is to complete the orb puzzles. This is to help get rid of the crystalized Koboh Matter that is blocking the gusts of wind that will help you reach Dagan’s retreat.

After dealing with the Bounty Hunter, climb up to the very top where you can find enemies waiting for you.

Fight them or leave, it doesn’t matter. You should aim to use this Relter to get across the gap to the other side of the chasm.

On the other side of the chasm, you will find another Meditation Point. Right next to it is a grappling point. Use your Ascension Cable and boost yourself up and climb to the left.

After climbing up, you will reach the top and see this device. There are several of these scattered around the Devastated Settlement, and you will need to use them in order to progress through. However, it is missing an orb.

Turn around and you will see a hole in the wall. Jump across and enter the area. You will find an enemy here, so be prepared.

You will find yourself in an old High Republic training ground. There are several of these located around the Devastated Settlement, all containing the orbs you need. For the first one, use your Force Pull to bring the large cube down to the ground.

After bringing the cube to the ground, go back to the other side and use Force Pull or Force Push (depending on where you’re facing it) to turn it. This will make the beam on the other side of the room move to the left and dissolve the crystalized Koboh Matter.

Once the Koboh Matter is gone, head to the other side again and Force Pull the orb towards you. Look at the area where the Koboh Matter was and you will see a slot where you can place the orb. Align the the glowing line until it turns purple Force Push the orb to the slot.

Go back to the other side again and Force Pull the orb towards you. Head back outside and aim the orb to the device on the other side and Force Push it. Don’t worry if you miss, the orb will just spawn back in again.

Interact with the device and aim it towards the Koboh Matter that’s blocking the steam from rising up. Now you can use the Relter to reach the next orb puzzle.

Ride the Relter to this next area. You will need to clear out the enemy droids as they are going to be a nuisance while doing the puzzle.

After dealing with the droids inside, you will enter the training grounds and find more enemies. After dealing with those, step on the middle platform that’s protruding out of the wall. It will fall off and break apart, but it’s needed for the next puzzle.

Down below, you will find a tough enemy here. This one needs to be taken care of, because completing the puzzle will be difficult while it’s still alive.

After taking care of the large enemy, look at the wall and use Force Pull to break open the wall. Inside, you will find a place to put the orb in.

Look to your right and you will see the orb in a device. Pull it out with Force Pull and place it in the new one you just discovered.

This will open the door on the right side of the device. Go through it to get an upgrade for BD-1.

Here, you will get the Koboh Grinder. This upgrade will allow BD-1 to spray out Koboh Matter in a line. Take note that you cannot use Koboh Matter on water, as it will immediately dissolve. You can only use it on dry surfaces.

With the Koboh Grinder equipped, spray Koboh Matter from the beam and make a line towards the crystalized Koboh Matter. The beam will start a fire and burn the Koboh Matter it touches, along with the crystalized Koboh Matter that’s blocking your way out.

With the Koboh Grinder, you can now solve the rest of the puzzle. Go back through where you came from and put back the orb to its original spot.

The beam should be back up and hitting the wall behind you. You will need to spray Koboh Matter on two crystalized Koboh Matters in order to exit the training grounds. Start with the one on left, which covers the way out, and then get rid of the one on the right, which stops you from getting back up.

With the Koboh Matter gone, you can now climb back up to the spot you were trying to reach before the platform collapsed. Before you go any further, turn around and grab the orb behind you.

With the orb in hand, there are two ways to go about this. The first one requires speed, in which you Force Push the orb to the other side and immediately chase after it before it despawns. Or you can do the safe option and just place the orb on the holder on the right side. Either way, just get he orb back to the other side.

Bring the orb to the device outside and place it there. Then aim the beam towards the crystalized Koboh Matter on the rock structure to release the steam.

Use another Relter and glide towards the steam to boost you up in the air. Your next location should be here. There will be enemies fighting each other, so make quick work of them.

After dealing with the enemies, go through the crevice on the wall here. You will find another enemy on the other side, but they can be easily dealt with.

Once the enemy is down, up to the wall and you will see a cube above. Use Force Pull to bring it down to the ground.

With the cube down, place the cube under this gate here. It will be very important as once you get the cube; the gate will close down and prevent you from exiting. The cube lets you squeeze under just enough to exit.

Place the orb on the device and it will shoot out a beam.

With the beam now operational, pull the cube out from under the gate and place it in front of the beam. Afterwards, have BD-1 spray Koboh Matter from the beam to the crystalized Koboh Matter on the right, which is blocking the way out.

Grab the orb and place it in the device outside. Aim it at the rock structure with Koboh Matter blocking the steam and you will finally complete the last of the orb puzzles.

Grab the High Republic Device

Use a Relter to glide above the steam and you will shoot straight up and arrive at the Grand Courtyard, which is the entrance to Dagan’s retreat.

Take a moment to meditate at the Meditation Point because going inside Dagan’s retreat will immediately start a boss fight.

This boss fight isn’t super hard, so you can take them down easily. Just remember to parry their strikes and attack when you see an opening.

After defeating the boss, have BD-1 slice open the console to open the way in for you.

Go inside and you will be able to explore the building. In this room, however, you can find the device that will help bring you to Tanalorr, but it is broken. Interact with it to pick it up and you will have successfully completed the research for Tanalorr on Koboh.
