Hey, do you want to hear about one of the best Pokémon games around? Nope, I’m not talking about official Pokémon games. I’m talking about Tales of Tanorio, a true masterclass of gaming in the Roblox platform. This right here is one of the best titles to be inspired by Pokémon as the dev team constantly looks for ways to give players the best possible experience. That said, however, I’m also going to answer one of the most difficult questions: How to get Tombini?
How To Get Tombini
I’m not going to lie to you: the method to receive Tombini is perhaps one of the most devious methods ever constructed by a developer. I know I was just talking about how they’re always striving to give players the best experience, but uh… this one is a doozy.
Understanding the term: Shiny
Now, I’m certain any Pokemon player understands what a Shiny is, but I’ll still explain it to ensure that everyone is on the same page. In Tales of Tanorio, a Shiny is basically an extremely rare Tanorian that is of a different color from the rest of its kin.
To put things into perspective, the earlier generations of Pokémon gave you the odds of encountering a shiny at 1/8192. That’s right. It’s practically an unfathomable number. That is pretty much a probability of 0.012% every single time you get an encounter.
In Tales of Tanorio, the dev team was kind enough to provide a 1/2000 rate of encountering a rare shiny Tanorian. In all honesty, that’s a whole lot better. However, it’s still incredibly rare, all things considered.
Why the lesson on Shiny Tanorians?
So, you’re probably wondering why we’re even talking about these rare guys. Naturally, coming across a Shiny Tanorian can be super exciting, since it’s a must that you capture it. These Tanorians are so rare that they’ve become something of a badge of honor. Heck, you’ll probably find it cooler than your Starter, that is, until you’ve read this guide on how to choose the best one!
But yeah, do you want this fella right here:
If you do — and you happen to encounter the unicorn that is a Shiny Tanorian — go ahead and kill it.
Wait, WHAT?
No, you were not reading that wrong. If you want to get your hands on a Tombini, it’s a requirement that you botch an encounter with a Shiny and kill it. Keep in mind that a Shiny Tanorian is more valuable than a Legendary. So much more valuable.
You wanna know the funniest thing? The person responsible for creating the Tombini model and its evolutions is ALSO responsible for devising this downright evil requirement. I won’t be dropping names, but it’s SO evil. This might not be such a big deal for new players that haven’t gotten to experience Pokémon, but this is a stab to the heart for any Shiny Hunter out there…

So, how am I supposed to get a Shiny?
Typically, with great difficulty. However, I’m going to talk about some methods you can use to make things easier.
- Wait for a Shiny Weekend – The Tales of Tanorio devs sometimes celebrates a Shiny Weekend, which have increased rates of encountering Shiny Tanorians in the wild. This is one of the easier ways to try to get your hands on a Shiny, but it’s still not going to be easy. This is the go-to method for anyone looking to get a Shiny in the game, even if you’re going to hurt my heart by beating it up.
- Chaining Encounters – Learning how to chain encounters is pretty much just fighting the same type of Tanorian again and again. You’ll want to go after the Tanorians walking around so you can be certain that you don’t accidentally break your streak.
These two methods should be done at the same time. Trying to chain encounters without the Shiny Weekend can be quite the grind otherwise. Also, here’s a guide to catching all Tanorians, since we’ve all gotta catch ’em all!
Some pretty cool lore
All of that said, the lore of the Tombini is actually kind of cool. When it senses the death of a Shiny, the Tombini also comes to life, as it starts searching for its spirit. In the case of the game, the Tombini will appear in your box.
If you’re looking to evolve the Tombini to Obelusk and Mausolurk, then the process is simple. All you have to do is use this Tanorian to faint other Tanorians. The Tombini will evolve to Obelusk after fainting three Tanorians. Once that’s done, repeat the process and it will evolve to Mausolurk.
Thankfully, the Mausolurk is one of the best looking Tanorians in the game.
Sure, my heart aches for the loss of a Shiny, but at least it looks great.
