There are some things people can’t do on their own in Tears of the Kingdom, which is why you exist, to do it for them. This is where old man Toffa comes in. He’s been on the Outskirt Stable for so long that he can’t set out to find a Stalhorse himself.
Now the responsibility of finding a skeletal horse and bringing it back to the stable falls onto you. But where do you find an undead steed? What are the conditions to even have one pop up in the local vicinity? All those question will be answered in the side quest guide you’re about to read, so continue on!
The Horse Guards Request Side Quest Guide
To begin the quest you need to talk to Toffa at the Outskirt Stable near the Coliseum Ruins. You can get there using the Tsutsu-um Shrine. Finding the skeletal horse will take you further up north to the Sanidin Park Ruins. It’s an unmarked location south of Nima Plain. The road next to the stable will take you there.
Wait until nightfall once you get to the Sanidin Park Ruins. You’ll be able to find numerous Stalhorses roaming the area. When you spot one, sneak up behind until you’re close enough to mount it. It gives a mean kick like any other horse would when startled so don’t run around behind it too much.
Once you’re properly mounted, ride it all the way back to the Outskirt Stable. Toffa will give you a Purple Rupee and one pony point for your trouble. After that he’ll follow up with wanting to see you ride something else that isn’t a horse.
What he wants to see is a Deer. They’re easier to mount but they don’t really have a fixed spawn location. Your best bet of finding one will be near the plains or forests. If you’re lucky, you might be able to find a few on the mountain right behind the stable! They’re called mountain deer for a reason.
Show Toffa your catch to get a Silver Rupee and one more pony point. This finishes The Horse Guard’s Request. If you like animals so much then maybe a talking chicken will interest you, check that out when you can!
