Open-world crafting survival games often have some form of progression to keep things interesting. In The Front, it’s usually researching new items, tools, and gear and crafting them. Other researched items can help you make things easier like automating watering your farm with irrigation. You’ll need a couple of things first to set that up though as well as some more research.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to set up your generators and water pump so that you can have irrigation in your base! We’ll also show you what you need to research to do that. Now let’s see how we can set this up!
How To Setup Generators & Water Pump For Irrigation
There are a lot of items that you can find and research in The Front. Most of them need to connect to other items to function, like an Irrigation system to automatically water your crops.
Here are the steps we’ll be taking to set Irrigation in the game:
- Research Rain Collector, Electrical Equipment, and Water Receiver.
- Place a Generator, Sprinkler, Pressure Pump and Dew Collector near your farming plots.
- Connect the Generator Output to the Pressure Pump Input using the Electric Tool Pack.
- Connect the Dew Collector Output to the Pressure Pump Input using the Water Tool Pack.
- Connect the Pressure Pump Output to the Sprinkler Input to finally get Irrigation!

Detailed Walkthrough
First off, you’ll need to research a few things in the Tech tree. Under the Tech tab, you’ll want to research Rain Collector, Electrical Equipment, and Water Receiver.
Of course, you’ll also need to research Metal Processor, since it’s a prerequisite to Electrical Equipment.
These three research techs will give you the tools you need to set up an irrigation system for your crops.
Now, you’ll want to place a Generator, a Dew Collector, a pressure pump, and a sprinkler near the place you want to farm. Make sure the Water Sprinkler is in the middle of some farming plots.
You’ll also need an Electric Tool pack as well as a Water Tool Pack in your inventory. Get your Electric Tool Pack and look at your Generator.
Look for the green square that is the output point and connect it to your pressure pump.
When you get to your pressure pump, be sure to connect the Output of the Generator to the Input of the Pump. Now, make sure to place the Dew Collector near the Pressure pump for the next step.
Equip your Water Tool Pack and connect the Output of the Dew Collector to the Input of the Pressure pump. This will feed all the water you get from the Dew collector to the pump.
Finally, you’ll want to connect the Pump output to the Sprinkler Input. If done correctly, the Sprinkler should be shooting out water and watering the nearby plots.
That’s how you set up your Generators and Water Pump for irrigation in The Front. Now, go out there and try to do it yourself!
