What to build first on your walking village?

The Wandering Village: What To Build First

The Wandering Village is a top down, life simulator game where you take control of a village that is settling down on the back of a large, dinosaur like creature (thus, The Wandering Village title). Just like every life simulator game, you have to know what to do first that will be optimal for the future. Starting off strong is a top priority when playing these types of games, so you need to know what to do. Like what to build first for example. In this guide, we will show you the ideal starting building is first.

What To Build First – The Wandering Village

In The Wandering Village, there are a lot of things you should build first. Ideally, you would want to have a lot of resources gathered at the start of the game, as well as getting new buildings and technology ready to develop as the game goes on.

When starting the game, you will want maximum workforce in order to get things done quickly. The Worker Post building generally makes people work, whether it’s by doing tasks to help the village grow or just picking up random things or resources to keep.

You should also have the Research Building, which researches new buildings and technologies for future use. We recommend having 2 Research Buildings built, just to have the research done as fast as possible.

While it’s important to keep productivity going, you need to keep your villagers strong. They’re people, not machines, so you should have an Air Well ready, which grants water by extracting it from the air. We advise putting the well at higher humidity levels for more water. But if you are in deserts, then you will not be able to generate any water from the Air Well.

Now that we have water, we need to have food. The Farm is a great source of food, but you need a large land of grass soil if you want to have enough food for your villagers to last a long time.

While your Farm is still producing food, you should also have a Berry Gatherer building just in case. Berries don’t provide much, but it’s better than having to starve while waiting for the farm to finish harvesting.

Moving on to the last three buildings, you will need the Carpenter and the Stonecutter. These two are the requirements to create the buildings that require wood planks and stone slabs. They are much more durable when you compare to other early game buildings.

Lastly, you should also have a place to stay for your villagers. While you can build the tent to save resources, it’s not worth it in the long run. Building a Hut instead will cost more resources. But you won’t have to worry in the future when villagers start pouring in.

These are the main buildings you should build when first starting a game. You don’t have to follow the exact order of the buildings to have first. But we recommend it, in order to get a much resourceful start in a game.
