Throne & Liberty: Best Class Tier List

What combinations are the best at the moment?

Throne and Liberty just had its global open beta recently, and with the Korean servers continuing to be accessible through means that I can’t really share here, you may be interested in trying it out. In this tier list, we will be ranking some of the “classes” in the game to give you a general idea of what may or may not be viable in the current state of the game.

Best Class Tier List

Before we begin, this is more aimed towards newer players who need some help figuring out what to play as. There aren’t actually any classes in the game. Instead, there are weapon combinations that fall under different roles, almost like having a class system.

In the list below, we’ve taken a look as some of the opinions shared by various players in both the open beta test and the Korean version of the game to rank some of the more notable combinations as there are some not commonly used for various reasons.

Finally, a lot of changes can come with the global release, as well as patches within the Korean servers. Because of that, these rankings might not apply to future updates. With that said, let’s get to the rankings!

S Tier

  • Greatsword + Sword & Shield – Not only will you be tanky with this combo in both PVE and PVP, but you can also burst things down with little effort. It is just overall a really powerful, maybe a bit overtuned, combination in the game right now.
  • Sword & Shield + Wand & Tome – Consideredby some to be one of the best combos in the game, it essentially makes you both a healer and a tank in PVE. In terms of PVP, you can also deal some insane damage in certain situations with some really good gear.
  • Staff + Wand & Tome – This is essentially the setup for healers in most forms of content. Not really much to explain here, though there might be some changes in the future that will add more alternatives in this role.
  • Sword & Shield + Dagger – This combination is particularly good for all types of PVP in the game, and it can be okay in PVE as well.
  • Crossbow + Dagger – This combination is just insane when it comes to DPSing in any form of content at the moment. If you are looking for a pure DPS combination, this is one of the best options you can go for barring any nerfs in the future.

A Tier

  • Wand & Tome + Dagger – Used for DPS, this combo can be pretty deadly in smaller scale PVP content, but it is not particularly great for PVE, at least compared to the more popular choices in this role.
  • Longbow + Dagger – This combination is a bit of a weird one as it be a bit oppressive in small scale group PVP, but in larger encounters and PVE, it falls under “mid” when compared with various other combos.
  • Staff + Dagger – This combination can just easily rack up a lot of kills in large scale PVP, though it can easily be outclassed by other DPS setups in other forms of content.
  • Longbow + Staff – Another weird one, this combo can be an insane DPS in PVE and in large scale PVP. In smaller scale PVP content, though, it is not particularly good as you will get deleted immediately.

B Tier

  • Crossbow + Wand & Tome – This is considered to be a bit of an unusual and very uncommon setup, but it can be pretty good in large scale zergs and PVE. Anywhere else, it isn’t really all that good unless in the hands of a very dedicated player with best in slot equipment.
  • Greatsword + Dagger – Although it has the potential to be good at small scale PVP content and in some PVE encounters, it ranks a bit low here because it is currently heavily outclassed by the ranged DPS options at the moment.

C Tier

  • Longbow + Wand & Tome – In the current state of the game, this combination is just completely outclassed by the Staff + Wand & Tome combo. It can still be pretty good when used by a really good support player with some top shelf gear, but otherwise, just avoid it.
  • Longbow + Crossbow – In PVE, this can be pretty okay. However, in any form of PVP content, this combination makes very little sense due to how these two weapons clash with each other in that they are mainly effective at very different ranges.

And that concludes this tier list, which is mainly based on several players’ opinions during the current state of the game prior to global launch.
