Tower Defense X is a fun Roblox tower defense game. What makes this different from other tower defense games on Roblox is that it doesn’t have popular characters like Goku or Superman, but it instead has their own characters that are uniquely designed for the game.

So, you can expect a lot of cool looking characters to be usable in the game, but you might find that some of them are not that good, while others are super meta.

In this tier list, I will show you the best units that you can use in the game, while also showing you the units you should not use in Tower Defense X.

Best Units Tier List

Before we get started, I would just like to let you all know that this tier list is made after the recent update of the game.

In the recent update, almost all of the units in the game went through a buff or debuff, so you might be confused as to why previously strong units are now ranked lower than the previously weak units.

Tower Defense X: Best Units Tier List

S Tier

  • Operator – The Operator is considered the best of the best because of how strong it is. Whether you are starting with the Operator in the beginning of the game or late into it, the Operator will deal a lot of damage to characters from both far and near the enemies.
  • John – John is more or less the same as EDJ, but he can also do a good bit of damage on his own.
    • Unlike EDJ, who can barely do damage but give good support, John gives good damage and good support to his teammates, making him a team player while still kicking butt.
  • Laser Gunner – Laser Gunner is probably the best unit to have when you can. At first, it will start off slow as it deals regular damage.
    • But as the game goes on, you will be surprised when Laser Gunner starts dealing piercing damage that goes through one enemy and onto the next.
  • Juggernaut – The Juggernaut is your own personal Doomslayer. Having an army of Juggernauts will guarantee you a win, which is why they cost a lot.
    • Combine rapid fire and high damage, the Juggernaut earns it place on the tier list by being so good at killing.
  • Warship – A Warship deals major damage from the sea. Yes, it does cost a lot to place Warships, but having them will help in ensuring your win in a match.
  • Missile Trooper – Missile Troopers are essentially the Soldier from Team Fortress 2. This unit will fire missiles at your enemies and not only deals massive damage on its primary target, but splash damage on enemy units surrounding the original target.

A Tier

  • Ranger – Ranger’s are the all-around basic units in the game that you will be using a lot from the beginning to the end.
    • By itself, the Ranger is pretty weak and not good for higher level enemies. But with an army of Rangers, you can deal some serious damage. It also helps that the cost of placing Rangers is not a lot.
  • Shotgunner – Same with the Ranger, the Shotgunner is the short ranged version of the Ranger. Except the Shotgunner does more damage the closer the enemy is to the unit.
    • So, having a group of Shotgunner’s together definitely helps in dealing a lot of damage.
  • Artillery – Artillery is a very good unit to use, especially after the update. However, thanks to the latest update, it does cost a little more to use Artillery compared to other units.
    • So, while it does a big deal of damage, it does cost more to place it.
  • Patrol Boat – A Patrol Boat is essentially a weaker version of the Warship. It does deal damage from the water like the Warship, but it’s much better to just purchase something stronger like a Missile Trooper unit or save for an actual Warship.
  • Farm – The Farm is great for both solo and when in a group of other players. It essentially helps you in earning more so you can get more units out on the field.
  • EDJ – EDJ is great for when you want to boost other units. It’s more of a support unit and having it be a DPS or defense unit will quickly show that it is not capable of that.
    • However, with its bonuses and other skills, EDJ can help increase the effectiveness of your other units in the game.

B Tier

  • Mine Layer – The Mine Layer does a good deal of damage and thanks to the update, Mine Layer’s placed on the top path will take less time in placing mines. However, mine’s are only good situationally, unlike other units like Ranger and Operator that uses guns all the time.
  • Cryo Blaster – Cryo Blasters are your Mr. Freezes. They will do some damage, but all in all the damage they dish out isn’t really worth the cost to place them there to begin with.
  • Sniper – The Sniper unit wasn’t a good unit before. It fired slow and its piercing damage barely did anything.
    • But, thanks to the update, the Sniper received a buff to its piercing damage, and it is very good. However, it does still fire slow, so it still feels like Sniper isn’t that good yet.

Bear in mind that this is an opinionated tier list. Some people may see it this way, but others won’t, and that’s completely fine.

That’s all you need to know on the best units for Tower Defense X in this tier list. Did this tier list help you understand the best and worst units in the game? Let us know in the comments below.
