Type Soul: Best True Mode Tier List

Ranking every True Mode from busted to buns!

I’ve tested almost every True Mode in Type Soul, and let me tell you, some are absolutely game-breaking while others feel like wasted potential. A few I had to test off-camera (and yeah, some of those were pretty mid), but I’ve put together this full tier list so you know exactly which ones are worth grinding for.

Best True Mode Tier List

True Modes are essentially “upgrades” for your abilities. They either give your kit a new domain, add buffs, or completely change how your character plays. But not all True Modes are created equal—some turn you into an unkillable monster, while others barely add anything noticeable.

That’s why I made this tier list. I’ll break down each True Mode, explain what makes it strong (or trash), and place it where I think it belongs. The list is based on testing, gameplay experience, and how each True Mode actually feels to use in fights.

Here’s how I’m ranking them:

  • God Tier – Completely busted. Basically unkillable or unbeatable.
  • S Tier – Strong, reliable, and game-changing.
  • A Tier – Balanced, solid, worth using.
  • B Tier – Decent, situational, or just underwhelming.
  • C Tier – Barely adds anything, disappointing.
  • D Tier – Don’t waste your time.
All True Mode in Type Soul ranked from best to worst.

Breakdown & Thoughts

God Tier

These are the “don’t even bother trying to fight them” True Modes. Overkill is literally impossible to kill. Kyoka clones keep you stunlocked forever. Wind perma-stuns with huge AoE. Visionary is bugged and unbeatable. And Stark? With wolves plus Lilynette, it’s just unfightable.

S Tier

These are extremely strong without being totally broken. Poison groups entire squads and lets you wipe them in one move. Panta has auto-TP and giant M1s that ignore parries. Slash is still amazing even after a nerf. Storm is pure fun with its teleport spam. Ice is criminally underrated, giving infinite dodges and AoE freezes. And while Miracle got nerfed, it’s still S until they fully fix it.

A Tier

Balanced but very solid picks. Light adds Starfall and health packs. Blood has a healing domain. Zombie snowballs hard if you get early kills. Ash blinds and chunks health. Phoenix heals nonstop. Ink makes you unkillable by stripping names. The rest—like Volcanica, Suzumabachi, Flower, Berserk, Vamp, Shinso, Bone, Aragante, Creation—are all reliable without being unfair.

B Tier

Not terrible, just underwhelming. Weight and Heat have good effects but limited payoff. Compulsory and Judgment are risky but can surprise people. Superstar, Shadow, Snow, Confusing—all situational and not reliable enough to climb higher.

C Tier

Basically wastes of a True Mode. Power only adds a weak damage boost. Royal adds a couple swords and nothing else. Gluttony spawns traps that barely matter. Zangetsu? Doesn’t really change at all.

D Tier

Don’t touch these. Iron is worthless, Shark is trash, and Fear is somehow worse than some base modes. Just skip them.

Wrap-Up

That’s the full tier list for Type Soul True Modes. Obviously, some picks are a little subjective (yes, I know some of you are gonna argue about Poison or Miracle), but this list is based on how each True Mode actually performs in fights.

At the end of the day, play what’s fun for you—but if you want the strongest, now you know which ones to aim for.
