Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has no shortage of puzzles taking much inspiration from the movies. In the Vatican area alone, you can come across so many puzzles. One of the more tricker puzzles is the Fountain of Confession puzzle.

Vatican Fountain Puzzle Solution
The Vatican fountain puzzle actually consists of three separate puzzles that will follow one by one. So, we’ll be looking at each of these one by one.
There are plenty of puzzles at the Vatican too. One of them is quite challenging and you can see the solution for it in our sacred wounds puzzle guide.
Dragon Statue Puzzle
When you arrive at the fountain, you’ll see a seemingly normal fountain in front of you. To get things started, you’ll first need to go through the doorway to the left of the fountain when facing it.
After you enter the doorway, use your whip to reach the top of the opening above. You’ll need to use your whip twice here.
When you reach the top, you should see a statue of a dragon. This dragon will have its claw missing and we’ll look at that shortly. For now, your goal is to reach the Dragon that is across the large gap.
So again, use your trusty whip to bridge the gap and get across to the statue.
Over here, interact with the Dragon Claw and rotate it. Doing so will open a lever.
After that, use the lever to rotate the Dragon facing towards the left.
Once that’s done, return to the previous Dragon Statue. Look down the ledge on one side and you should see the Dragon Claw below. Drop down and grab the Dragon Claw.
Doing so will start a cutscene where Indy will fall to the ground. After that, you’ll need to go all the way to the top like you did previously.
When you reach the statue again, place the Dragon Claw into the statue.
After that, rotate the Dragon Claw and then use the lever to rotate the statue. Turn the statue towards the right so that it’s facing the other statue you rotated.
Doing so will cause the fountain statue to move and reveal another dragon. Make sure to drop down and use your whip on the dragon. Doing so will rotate the fountain and reveal the rest of the puzzle.
To reveal the next baptism puzzle though, you’ll need to use the lever on the fountain with Gina to rotate to it.
Baptism Puzzle
For the next puzzle, you will have two statues with a child on the left and a man holding a bucket on the right. Above the bucket, there will be a lever where you can use your whip.
The solution to the puzzle is that you need to baptize the child on the left. However, the statue on the right can only do it with water.
So, here is the order of actions that you need to do to finish the puzzle:
- Move the child statue to the right
- Use the whip to pour water into the male statue
- Turn the statue with the bucket to the left.
Doing so will cause the baptism to occur and the puzzle will be solved. To reveal the next puzzle, you will again need to rotate the fountain with Gina.
Ark of Bulrushes Puzzle
The final puzzle we have is the Ark of Bulrushes puzzle, which is arguably the most complicated one. So, we’ll start by explaining how it works.
At the top, you’ll see two levers that you can pull with the whip. The one on the left moves the Ark (boat) to the left while the right one moves it to the right. Your goal is to get the boat to the right side.
However, to do this, you’ll need to form a path for the boat to go through. You will need to do this by rotating the three rings in the middle. Move them in such a way so that you can form a path.
However, forming a clear straight path is not possible. So, at the start, you’ll need to form the path that is shown below. Once that’s done, the Ark will stop in the midway point.
Next, you need to move the rings around again until the blockage has been towards the left. Additionally, you will need to form an open path to the right side as shown below.
Once that’s done, use the right side lever to move the Ark again. Doing so will cause the Ark to reach the other side and the puzzle will be completed.
To complete the Vatican Fountain puzzle, all you need to do is interact with the statue in the middle. Push it all the way to the end until the gate opens. And with that, you can now move ahead and progress with the story.
