Hogwarts Legacy – 5 RPGs With Magic
Fable Anniversary
- Developer: Lionhead Studios
- Release Date: February 4, 2014
- Platforms: Xbox 360, PC (Backwards compatible for Xbox Series X/S)
If you’re looking to enjoy a magical world, then Fable Anniversary is for you. This story based RPG is one of the many games that changed the way RPG’s work. It is also an excellent game that features a plethora of magical abilities.
While the other Fable games are all good, Fable Anniversary is the latest game in the Fable franchise. Lionhead Studios is still busy making the newest entry to the Fable games, so we will have to settle for the updated version of the first Fable.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition
- Developer: Bethesda Game Studios
- Release Date: November 11, 2021
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch
We all know the joke about Bethesda releasing Skyrim every few years or so instead of releasing Elder Scrolls VI. Skyrim’s Anniversary Edition is the latest re-release of Skyrim that came out just last year in November, and it features the most updated version of Skyrim to date.
The game is still fun, and it is a great RPG to waste your time with, especially with the magic system. However, vanilla Skyrim is not the way to play it. No, you have to mod Skyrim to get the best version out of it. Luckily, Skyrim now has official mod support, which you can take advantage of.
The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt
- Developer: CD Projekt RED
- Release Date: May 17, 2015
- Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch
If we’re talking about RPG’s with magic, we can’t leave The Witcher 3 out of the discussion. This game continues to blow the minds of gamers who are just getting into the Witcher series. Whether it’s because of the Netflix series or the books, they will eventually end up playing the games.
Now is actually a good time to play The Witcher 3, as CD Projekt RED recently released a new next gen update for The Witcher 3. Now the game has content from the Netflix series, as well as updated graphics that take advantage of the new hardware from the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Final Fantasy XV
- Developer: Square Enix
- Release Date: November 29, 2016
- Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Stadia (Backwards compatible with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S)
You can’t exclude the JRPG’s from the discussion, as JRPG’s have some of the best magic systems in games. One such example is Final Fantasy XV. This mainline entry to the Final Fantasy franchise contains a lot of magical elements that is important to not only the gameplay, but the story as well.
Final Fantasy VII Remake, despite being a better game, doesn’t contain a lot of magic elements in its story and gameplay that XV has. However, Final Fantasy XVI is looking to have more magic in its story than XV, which should be exciting.
Dragon Age: Inquisition
- Developer: BioWare
- Release Date: November 18, 2014
- Platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC (Backwards compatible with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S)
The Dragon Age series has always been a great franchise for those who love the medieval fantasy full of warriors and wizards. Magic is a prevalent theme in the Dragon Age games, and it is also one of the best franchises to have magical combat systems.
The best place to play the Dragon Age games, as well as Inquisition, is on PC. Console is fine, but PC offers more, like the ability to use saves to carry over decisions to the next games.
