Spacing is a technique of putting the necessary distance between you and your opponent at the right time. You can almost generally apply the basic theory of spacing to most PVP games that emphasize on melee combat. Especially, games that don’t generally allow iFrame, or Immunity Frame.
There are three types of weapons in Deepwoken: heavy/long weapon, medium weapon, and light weapon. Now, your spacing technique will differ depending on the circumstances.
Weapon Range Matchup
The shorter is your weapon, the more aggressive you should play, this is the golden rule. Because you can hit faster, you can weave in and out from your enemy’s attack range. You’re all about chipping the other person’s health when you can or if possible, keep them heavily occupied.
You also need to learn to disrupt their attack rhythm. The faster you are, the easier it is to catch them off guard when you go in for attacks.
Zoning
Using Mantras, you can create distance when necessary and control the flow of the battle. Typically, Ice and Shadow types are great for distancing, and sometimes Thunder. Depending on situation, you want to pull users using long range weapon close to get a hit in. Or push them out when they try to close in.
Obviously, all of this need practices and you get better with more PVPs you do. The game also encourages that as there are a lot of content easier to access by winning PVPs.
