Sandy Sunset Map Guide
The Sandy Sunset Map has a passive side and an active side. The passive side is the West side of the map. And the active side is the East side of the map. This is because on the passive side you’ll usually see snipers and window peekers. On the contrary, the active side is where the objectives are and where most of the fighting occurs.
This map is relatively Russian-sided and this is because there’s a more direct way of getting to high ground compared to the US side. For this map, your fights super close-quarter heavy so it is understandable for you to use SMGs over heavy Assault Rifles or any sort of long range type weapons.
Sniping on this possible despite all the close range fights going on. If you decide to play at a long range you should use long range Assault Rifles. How good you are at using C4 to parkour around the map is also important.
This map is also quite big and there are always multiple corners you can take advantage of to flank on your opponents, so pay attention to this. You can always be creative by using C4 to jump between buildings, or change your location frequently to make yourself more unpredictable.
Since there is a big map, there can be snipers lurking almost everywhere to hunt you down. This is why you want to always pay attention to your positioning in big open areas. Pay attention to windows as you run and you’ll be able to spot one of those snipers.
Flank Routes
US Flanks
On the US Side, you can go to the location in the image down below. Here you can find yourself a flank route that leads you to the higher floor of the building. If you use your C4 to give yourself a window to jump on, you’ll be able to flank any opponents on the other side quite easily.
RU Flanks
On the Russian Side, you’ll be able to have easy access to a high ground. Here, you can use your long range weapons and look at hot spots where there are multiple enemies. They usually won’t pay attention to you since the intense fights there are already distracting them.
If you decide not to go for that route, you can only go down and choose the sneaky way. You can then run to the end of the building area and you will see yourself at a high platform. This will then allow you to catch any members of the US side off guard.
Primary And Spawn Objectives
It’s okay for you to determine A and D as your spawn objectives and B and C your primary objectives. This is because when you spawn, A and D are objectives that you can easily get to. On the other hand, B and C are objectives that you will need to push to get and can actually lose throughout the map. Once a team gets a spawn objective, it will just become a spawn trap.
RU Primary Objectives
If you’re on the US side and you just captured the C point then you’ll notice that these buildings (in the image) will be pretty much destroyed. This commonly happens when grenades are being thrown around and RPGs are being shot this. The lane right there is going to be filled with the enemies. Until you make your way towards the enemy spawn this is a very common place to fight against once you do capture this primary objective on C.
US Primary Objective
Most of the fighting will happen of the passive side. This area has a lot of action going on. But when the RU team gets through the area and pushes through the market to capture A. Your team will be stuck in a spawn trap. This is why the RU side is heavily favored in this map.
US Spawn Objective
You will be able to see a lot of players holding this road area as well as the nearby buildings area. This is the place that the RU team wants to take control of in order to spawn camp the US team. If you are getting spawn camped as the US team, you’ll want to pay attention to the windows since there are lots of players holding these areas.
RU Spawn Objective
In the image down below, you’ll be able to see the RU spawn. There are lots of routes for the RU team to take if they are being camped so you have to strategize carefully to hold these areas. This is also one of the reasons why this map is RU-sided.
There are also buildings they can capture to shoot from and get out. The spawn trap in the RU side is overall easier for the RU team to get out. If you ever get spawn camped as the RU team, try to diversify your routes option and surprise the opposite team.
