If you have made your way into the Overgrown Tunnels in Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll see a cloud of poison gas or noxious fumes blocking the way inside. You really can’t brute force your way into them as you will insta-die upon making contact with the gas. With that said, you may be wondering how you can go past them. If you’ve tried everything on your end and still don’t find a way to do so, here’s a guide that shows how you can clear out the poison gas cloud/noxious fumes in the game.

How to Clear Poison Gas Cloud/Noxious Fumes in Overgrown Tunnel

Here’s everything you can and have to do in order to clear the annoying gas blocking the way. Also keep in mind that there will be a couple more vents along the way.

First things first, it will be really convenient for you to have a character with good perception since they can reveal where the vents will be located within the cloud of gas. However, you still have options if you turn out to not have a perceptive character with you. Read further into the guide for more details.

After revealing the vent, you’ll simply need to throw almost anything that you think can block the vent. This will stop the gas from coming out. You can throw items like rocks, daggers, skulls, etc. Use your creativity on this one.

If you don’t have a perceptive character in your team or you fail the perception check, you can still throw items, but you won’t be able to see where the vent is located. Just throw all over the gasses and hope to hit the spot. However, it will really be a bummer if you run out of items to throw so be careful and I wish you luck.

Keep in mind that you can’t use the Gust of Wind since the vent keeps producing before your team is able to pass through. But I agree that the spell should at least clear what’s there and offer a few seconds to pass. Maybe they’ll patch it, we never know.

After your team has its way past the area with the poison gas/fumes, you can then pick up the rock or item of choice again. That’s so you can use it for the other vents up ahead. Just make sure to be quick enough before the gas/fumes reproduce.
