Starfield: How to Extract Helium

You better not use this to make your voice higher pitched.

Starfield is a game that allows you to do everything you could do as a human that’s traversing the vast area of space. Travelling to different planets is nice, but you should always look around the planet and see if the is something you can use.

Whether it’s for yourself or for your ship, resources are important to have in the game. Helium is one such resource that you can find in many different planets, but how can you extract them? In this guide, I will show you how you can extract large pockets of Helium on planets.

How to Extract Helium

When you find a Helium deposit on a planet, your first instinct is to use your Cutter to cut open the rocks and get the Helium. That’s not how it works, considering Helium is a gas.

Instead, you will have to first set up an Outpost. Once you do, you can then place a Helium Extractor on the Helium deposit. Bear in mind that you will need 5 Aluminum, 4 Nickel, and 3 Copper in order to build one of these extractors.

Once you have the appropriate amount of materials ready, build the Helium Extractor and it will start extracting Helium from the deposit.

Now, before you leave the area, you will need to build a Gas Storage for the Helium. The extractor can only hold so much before it becomes full, so you will need to have a Gas Storage built in next to it.

Once it’s built, you will need to link the Helium Extractor to the Gas Storage, and you can safely leave the area to continue your journey.

I do recommend you to make more than one Gas Storage. Having one is fine, but if you plan on being away from outposts for a long time, you can benefit from having multiple storage collecting resources like Helium.
