In Star Ocean The Second Story R, you’ll play as one of the two playable characters, Claude and Rena, and unlock various endings. On your journey, you’ll engage in many of the fast-paced, real-time battles against opponents. This is why having a good weapon is extremely important.
The Aeterna Sword is considered to be one of the stronger weapons in the game. However, you may not know the specific steps to get the weapon. In this guide, we’ll show you how to get the Aeterna Sword in Star Ocean the Second Story R.
How To Get Aeterna Sword
First, you’ll need to reach the finals during the Tournament of Arms in Lacuer City. Now, the tournament is a story-related event, meaning that you’ll eventually get to it as you play. Then, try your best to win the first 3 matches, then lose the last one against Dias.
Right before leaving Lacuer City, go meet Gamgee to get the Deadly Sword. Keep in mind that you must not leave the city, otherwise, you will lose the chance to obtain this weapon. Without this weapon, you cannot craft the Aeterna Sword, so be careful on this step.
For the next step, you will need to obtain a total of 2 Mithrils. The fastest way for you to get the items is by leveling up your ESP Skills. For every time you improve the ESP skill, you have a random chance to obtain Mithril.
NOTE: You should save the game before doing this and keep trying until RNG gives you the 2 pieces. Also, do not spend Claude’s SP for this, since you will need those for the next step.
To proceed, you will need to upgrade Claude’s Customization specialty to at least Level 7. That said, you’ll want to upgrade Aesthetic Design, Smithing, and Eye for Detail. This will increase your chances of getting rare drops as you craft items.
After that, go to your Customization menu and combine Deadly Edge + Mithril. Now, the Deadly Edge is the sword that you have obtained earlier from the beginning of the game.
Make sure you save your game before crafting the weapon, so you can try again if you fail. When you succeed, you will get a Blade of Minos, which is an important item for the next step.
Then, combine the Blade of Minos + Mithril, which will give you the Aeterna Sword. Similar to the previous step, remember to save your game so you can try again if you fail. This sword has an amazing 1600 ATK stat, allowing you to one-shot almost any monster.
This is one of Claude’s best weapons in the entire game. With it, you’ll deal up to 3000+ damage each time you land your hit on an enemy.
Thanks to the high damage, you will have a much easier time playing through all of the in-game content.
With just a few steps, you can get the Aeterna Sword! Some steps may require you to try your luck and successfully craft an item. However, you can always save your game and retry until you eventually succeed. This is an important step you need to pay attention to.
