In Star Ocean The Second Story R, similar to the original game, some characters can unlock secret moves by meeting varying conditions or looting certain chests hidden around the world and performing specific tasks. Among these moves is Welch’s Nibelungaling, which is a powerful move that is pretty straightforward to unlock if you know the steps.

In post-game, the first step in unlocking Nibelungaling is to travel to Eluria Tower. From there, you will have to make your way to the structure’s sixth floor.

Once you reach the sixth floor, run straight forward until you reach the end of the room. Here, you’ll find a treasure chest hidden on the left behind stacks of glowing cubes. Loot this chest to get the Smooth Crystal.

Now that you have this crystal, bring up the game menu and scroll down to IC/Specialty and select Crafting.

From this menu, switch over to Welch and scroll down until you find the Smooth Crystal. Craft it and you will receive a Symbol of the Gods.

Next, go to your Items menu and find the Symbol of the Gods under the Other tab. Upon using this item, Welch will instantly learn a new special art known as Nibelungaling.

It’s a flashy move that does quite a lot of area of effect damage, and it costs 60 MP to cast this special art. As with the other spells, you can also upgrade it to increase its damage potential.

And that’s all you need to know about the Nibelungaling move and how to unlock it for Welch. It’s an incredibly simple process but can be easy to miss if you aren’t paying attention to your surroundings!
