Dragon’s Dogma 2: Is It Possible To Chop Off Chimera Tail

On a quest to slay the Chimera!

Dragon’s Dogma 2, as the name states, is a prequel to Dragon Dogma. This game features a map that is twice the size of its first game.

The game takes place in an RPG styled open world where Dragons continue to be a potentially world-ending threat, and Arisen is the only one that can eliminate it and save the world.

We also encounter other mythical creatures like the Chimera. One of the leading questions is whether we can chop off the Chimera’s tail. Stick around and we’ll find out.

Is It Possible To Chop Off Chimera Tail

We’re here to learn if we can chop off the tail of the Chimera, which is essentially the Serpent’s head. To answer this question, Yes, it is possible to chop off the tail.

If you’re not familiar with the mythical creature called Chimera, it is a mythical beast with parts taken from various animals. It does not possess parts from just any animal.

According to Greek mythology, a Chimera is a female fire breathing creature, with the head of a lion, body of a goat and tail of a snake.

Many players have been speculating on whether immediately killing is not the only option when in combat with the Chimera. They wonder if it’s possible to kill it too and as mentioned before, yes, it is! Now, let’s see how.

How to Cut the Chimera Tail

Chopping the tail off while in combat makes defeating the beast much easier. This is because the snake is the reason behind the poison attacks. When you cut off the source of the poison, that’s one less problem to deal with and one step closer to victory.

You can cut off the tail by slashing it. Try using bladed weapons on the Chimera’s tail to decapitate it. The ideal Vocations for targeting the snake are Warrior, Fighter and Thief.

Defeating the snake’s head will also give you a chance to obtain some extra loot, like skins.

Here’s what you should know before aiming for the Serpent’s head

The difference between the first Dragon’s Dogma and the second one is that the three creatures that make up the chimera have their own health bar.

This means that even when you defeat the main lion head, this does not defeat the chimera, as a whole. The snake’s head will stay alive along with the goat. You’ll be thrown magic and poison at.

Additionally, if you defeat the lion’s and snake’s part, you will not experience the chimera charging at you like a Lion would. Nor would you experience it throwing poison. It would simply hammer you with magical abilities.

Player’s claim that it is much faster to first defeat the Lion and then proceed to the snake’s head or tail. This is because targeting the other parts may slow you down a bit.

How to Kill the Chimera

Each of a Chimera’s three heads has unique weaknesses and their own different abilities. The weakest is the Snake, followed by the Goat, and the Lion is the strongest part.

As mentioned previously, you can use a bladed weapon to decapitate the Snake’s head. Next, the Goat’s head is in the middle of the Chimera. The Goat is resistant to many Magick attacks but luckily for us, it is vulnerable to Fire and Ice

Try targeting it with melee attacks by grabbing the Chimera and climbing onto its back. When you’re in the right position, you can let go and still ride the Chimera. This lets you not have to worry about Stamina.

Finally, the Lion’s head is weak to Magick attacks. Here, you can use freeze enchantments against the lion which will also stagger the Chimera. Always aim for the lion’s head whether fighting from close range or from a far distance.

There you have it! You just chopped off the chimera’s tail and defeated the chimera. Are you struggling to do damage to this creature or any other ones in combat? Here’s how to fix Not Doing Damage in Dragon’s Dogma 2!
