Dragon’s Dogma 2: What Does Auto HUD Do?

Uh oh.

Without a doubt, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is really shaping up to be one of the best games of the year, though it isn’t without its fair share of controversies. Of course, being a Capcom title, you can expect drama in the form of microtransactions, but I’ve gotten used to it at this point. In fact, it’s not even that egregious when you compare it to the other fumbles of this legendary company. In any case, one of the questions (not necessarily a controversy) in Dragon’s Dogma 2 involves the question: What does Auto HUD do?

What Does Auto HUD Do?

Well, to answer the question of what exactly the feature does in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you must first understand the point of the Auto HUD feature in any game.

The idea of the Auto HUD is to automatically hide the game’s UI/HUD when you meet certain requirements. So, let’s say you’re playing a game and you aren’t really doing much as far as usage of items or combat goes.

What the Auto HUD does is it allows you to see the game in all of its glory. It’s pretty fantastic if you’re wandering around the open world, as the removal of the HUD when it isn’t needed can really make any game pop.

Is it different in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Unfortunately, it is. The Auto HUD feature in Dragon’s Dogma 2 only works when you stand still for a certain amount of time. That mean you can’t really enjoy the splendor of the world around you, because you have to be completely still.

This is pretty much what you get!

So while the Auto HUD does work in the game, the unfortunate thing is you won’t really get to use it the way you might in other games.

Do the devs plan on doing something about this?

Unfortunately, there hasn’t been any news concerning their plans to make changes to the game. Of course, the developers will very likely make improvements as it goes, but the Auto HUD feature might be one of those parts of the game that remain untouched.

Some people have already started complaining, however. It’s a feature that doesn’t really work as intended, and there have even been reports of bugs stopping the feature from working at all.

What can we do to solve the problem?

As of the moment, there isn’t any official thing you can do to remove the HUD outside of simply waiting it out while standing still in the game. Sure, it can still lead to some jaw dropping vistas, but it’s still different from the ability to remove the HUD whenever you’re exploring the world.

However, do you want to know a little secret?

Some savvy player has already decided to mod the feature into Dragon’s Dogma 2. It’s quite interesting that the fans can so quickly fix these problems. Capcom has a bit of a finnicky relationship with modders, but I hope that this mod — which you’ll find here (HUD Controls) — sees plenty of use.

That pretty much answers the question: what does Auto HUD do? Hopefully they fix this issue sooner rather than later!

Oh, while you’re here: Another question that has players stumped has to do with not doing damage in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Interested in finding out the solution?
