Dragon's Dogma 2: How To Make Pawn Stop Opening Chests

The Pawn system is one of the unique features of Dragon’s Dogma 2. You can take up to three Pawns (one main and two extra) on your journey. Your Pawns will assist you in various ways. If you are not familiar with Dragon’s Dogma 2, it is an Action RPG which was just recently released by Capcom on Steam, Xbox Series X / Series S and PlayStation 5.

How To Make Pawn Stop Opening Chests

We all know how satisfying it is to open the chests to see what loot awaits us. Especially after a hard boss battle or a long period of exploration. But in Dragon’s Dogma 2, this satisfaction is stolen by your greedy Pawns. They open up chests on their own whenever they get the chance without waiting for your command.

Is There A Way To Stop Them?

Unfortunately, there is no actual way to completely stop your Pawns from opening up chests on their own. This is just in their nature to do so. But you can still access their inventory so the stuff they loot is not actually lost in any way. The only thing you have to pass on is the satisfaction of looting the chests yourself.

Suggestions To Deal With This Effect

Although you can not entirely get rid of this Pawn behavior, there are still some ways through which you can lessen this greedy Pawn behavior.

TO ME

  • You can use the TO ME command to make them come to you which should stop them from going to the chest.
  • Whenever you see a Pawn going for a chest, use this command and then rush to the chest yourself to open it. Pretty annoying you have to do this but it is what it is.

Inclination & Specialization

  • The Inclination and Specialization of a Pawn can also affect how it behaves. Try different Inclinations and Specializations yourself to see what makes the biggest difference for you.
  • If this behavior of Pawns really bothers you, then steer away from using Logistician and Foragers Specialization or the Pioneer Inclination. Avoiding the use of a Simple Pawn can also be of help.

This marks the end of this quick guide. If you have been playing Dragon’s Dogma 2 for a while now, you might have come across an Elf who had an Escort mission for you. By completing this Escort mission, you will gain Max Affinity with that Elf. But chance are, you do not want that. To reduce Affinity, check this short guide: How to Decrease Affinity.
