Grab attacks are one of the most annoying types of attacks in Dragon’s Dogma 2, so you’ll want to do your best to escape from them quickly.
You can call your Pawns over and ask for help, but is that really the only way to break free?

How To Escape Grab Attacks in Dragon’s Dogma 2
The only surefire way to escape from grab attacks is to quickly ask your Pawns for help while you’re being grabbed.
To ask for help, just use the “Help!” command by pressing left on the d-pad (Controllers) or pressing the 3 key (Keyboard).
Try not to mash it too much, though. It may annoy Pawns, resulting in them not helping. They’re fickle creatures, after all…
However, the huge downside here, is that escaping grab attacks on your own is usually not possible.
This is particularly egregious when compared to the original Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. The excessive amount of mashing required in that game wasn’t too nice, though…
There are no on-screen prompts when you get grabbed, so the way the mechanics work is pretty obscure.
Some players report success by simply mashing attack buttons and trying to move their characters. When it works, your Arisen’s Stamina will be consumed as they struggle to escape the enemy’s grasp.
You can also get certain Augments, such as the Thief’s “Poise” Augment to reduce the amount of Stamina drained while you try to struggle to break free.
If you run out of Stamina while struggling, you’ll be unable to break free from the enemy’s grab attacks!
As we said before, though, this is extremely finicky and unreliable. It also seems to straight up not work against certain grabs, such as the ones done by the Chimera’s snake tail.
Ultimately, the only consistent way to escape grab attacks in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is to simply start yelling for your Pawns to help!
We’re sure that’s a disappointing answer, especially to those of you who love playing a self-imposed “No Pawns” challenge. But well, that’s just how the game is…
