Content Warning is hilarious when you play it with 4 other players, but you can use the Bigger Lobby Mod to have even more players for extra hilarity!
The game’s community has been quick to figure out how to increase the default 4-player cap on lobbies, allowing for up to 12 players at once. Bring the whole squad to explore the horrors of the Old World!
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to install and use this mod, as well as how to uninstall it in case it stops working.
How To Play More Than 4 Players | Bigger Lobby Mod
Before we begin, we want to note that this mod can be disabled at any moment by Content Warning’s developers.
The mod can cause instability with the game’s servers, so the developers might block the mod from working. This is most likely to happen during moments when there’s a high server load.
With that said, let’s begin the mod installation process by downloading BepInEx from BepInEx official GitHub page. Download the file called “BepInEx_x64_5.4.22.0.zip”.
Now, open the Zip file you just downloaded and copy its contents into Content Warning’s game folder.
You can easily find Content Warning’s folder by right-clicking on the game on Steam and selecting “Manage” then “Browse local files”.
With that first step done, your game’s folder should look like in the image above.
Now that BepInEx is set up, start Content Warning normally via Steam. Once you load into the main menu, close the game again. Doing this will allow BepInEx to create folders for the Bigger Lobby Mod itself!
Next up, download the newest version of the Virality mod by MaxWasUnavailable, also known as the Bigger Lobby Mod, from MaxWasUnavailable official GitHub page. In this case, download the file called “MaxWasUnavailable.Virality.dll”.
Navigate to Content Warning’s game folder once again, then open the “BepInEx” folder.
You should notice a folder called “plugins” there, open that folder as well.
Lastly, simply copy the “MaxWasUnavailable.Virality.dll” file into this “plugins” folder. Bigger Lobby Mod is now fully set up! You can now have lobbies of up to 12 players, instead of the usual 4.
Do note, though, that everyone you play with has to have the mod installed as well. Refer them to this guide if they need help.
What to do if the mod doesn’t work?
As we stated previously, sometimes the game’s developers will completely block the mod’s functionality by setting a hard player limit. After all, the Bigger Lobby Mod still relies on the game’s official servers!
If this happens, you’ll get an error message like the one shown in the screenshot above. It will prevent you from joining or creating lobbies, as the game detects a player limit higher than 4.
Sadly, there’s nothing you can do when this happens. There are no workarounds around this hard limitation, as it would cause issues for the game’s servers!
All you can really do is delete the mod and stick to regular 4 player lobbies in the meantime.
To delete the Bigger Lobby Mod, you simply need to delete the “MaxWasUnavailable.Virality.dll” file in the plugins folder from before.
In short, go into” Content Warning\BepInEx\plugins” and delete “MaxWasUnavailable.Virality.dll”, then relaunch the game.
You don’t need to delete BepInEx itself, so you’ll be able to reinstall the Bigger Lobby Mod easily later. Just redownload the mod’s file and put it back in the plugins folder!
But, at least now you know how to install this mod to play with more than just 4 players, and what to do in case it ever stops working! Do remember to fully customize your face to stand out when you play in large lobbies, though.
