Tower Defense Simulator: How to Get Nuclear Accelerator Easily

Tower Defense Simulator just rolled out yet another update, and you know what that means, right? A whole lot of new stuff, including balance changes and mission skins! In this guide, we will be showing you a quick and easy way to unlock the Nuclear Accelerator skin, which would normally require you to do a series of ridiculously hard tasks first.

How to Get Nuclear Accelerator Easily

Before we begin, let’s take a quick look at the individual mission objectives that you will have to complete in order to unlock the skin. They are the following quests, which may have to be done in this specific order:

  • 1. Deal 750,000 damage using the Accelerator tower
  • 2. Deal 75,000 damage using the Accelerator tower in a single match
  • 3. Beat Hardcore mode twice using the Accelerator tower.
  • 4. Complete Polluted Wasteland 2 twice while using the Accelerator tower.

As you can see, the toughest part of these missions is going to be the two Hardcore mode completions. Luckily, there is actually a way around this that doesn’t even need you to play that mode, which we’ll get to further down the guide.

Nuclear Accelerator Appearance

The Nuclear Accelerator skin itself has a relatively simple but sleek starting design that increasingly becomes flashier and more complex as it levels up. It basically starts out with a hazmat suit and glowing goggles.

By the middle levels, the unit changes its uniform into a grey suit that has more glowing green parts. Its weapon also starts changing, albeit subtly, as it gets slightly more detailed.

At the final level, the Accelerator grows glowing horns and starts wearing a hood with a glowing teal trim. It also starts wearing a sort of wolf head helmet with glowing eyes instead of the goggles.

Finishing the Missions Quickly & Efficiently

For the first two objectives, you might be able to finish both of them in a single match if you exclusively rely on Accelerators as your damage dealing towers.

Just make sure that you are playing a level that lasts long enough to deal the required amount of damage overall, which will be around 825,000 if my math is correct.

In the event that this doesn’t work for some reason and must be completed in separate matches, just do the same thing you did for the first step. Funnily enough, the second step is much easier than the first.

Just one thing to note is that Accelerators were very slightly nerfed in the latest update. This may or may not affect your usual strategies while using this unit, so just keep that in mind when you hop in the game.

Beating Hardcore Mode… But Not Really?

Once you finish the first two mission steps, you are probably dreading the next thing you have to do, which is to beat Hardcore mode twice. What if I told you that you don’t actually need to do that?

Here’s where things get a little silly, and we’re unsure if this is a bug or if they will ever fix it at all if it is unintended. Basically, playing Special modes will also count towards progress in the mission.

As of writing this, we can confirm that this method still works, so take advantage of it while you can! The developers might just decide that they aren’t okay with this in the near future.

This means that, instead of struggling with the hardest game mode, you can simply play the following maps to finish this step:

  • Badlands II
  • Pizza Party
  • Polluted Wasteland II

This makes it way easier because there is a massive difference in difficulty when you compare Hardcore mode with any of these other maps, especially if you are playing with other people.

Since Polluted Wasteland II is also required for the final step of the mission chain, you can just hop into it four times in a row to complete the whole thing.

Some players recommend going through Pizza Party instead. To be honest, just pick whichever Special mode you’re more comfortable beating. Just keep in mind that you will eventually be playing Polluted Wasteland II anyway.

We also have a guide on how to complete Polluted Wasteland II on your own, though you will have to modify the provided build in the article a bit to accommodate for the Accelerator unit.
