While most of us might be unable to sit behind the wheel on the F1 track, players can now fulfill their need for speed in F1 24. This dynamic racer was released by EA earlier this year and boasts a range of immersive gameplay features such as the Career mode and a more authentic handling experience for the authentic F1 experience.
To practice your driving (and of course, to make the game more fun), setting the difficulty of the game is great for both new and old players to gauge their skills on the track. At first, it might be hard to see which difficulty is right for you. That’s why I’ll tell you how to find the perfect AI difficulty in 1 quick step.
How To Find The Perfect AI Difficulty
You might set the difficulty too high or too low, which makes the game no fun. The default setting of the AI won’t be perfect for everyone. Older players will surely want to increase the difficulty, while new players might want an easier setting while they get used to the game.
Knowing where you stand with the AI is the best way to practice as you compete to keep up with tougher opponents. While it’s easy to set the AI at a random difficulty in a quick race and go from there, this can also be time-consuming if you have to do it over and over again.
Changing the AI Difficulty
You can’t change the AI difficulty in the middle of the race. You can do this from the main menu screen before you start. If you’re a returning player, you can gauge which AI difficulty works for you from the previous game. For new players, though, the best way you can determine your perfect AI difficulty is through a Qualifying Session.
Qualifying Mode
Qualifying mode is an option you can select when setting up a Grand Prix in the race menu. This will allow all drivers to drive a single lap to determine their qualifying position. You can use this as a quick gauge against the AI.
If you don’t know which AI difficulty to set, it’s recommended to use 75. Make sure you pick a track that you are familiar with and head into a one-shot qualifying session.
Note down your lap time compared to the other drivers. This information will be used to determine how much better (or worse) you are compared to the AI. You can increase or decrease the AI difficulty depending on where you finish relative to the grid.
Adjusting the AI
If you finish easily in front, increase the AI difficulty. Likewise, if you end close to the back of the grid, decrease the AI difficulty.
As a general rule of thumb, increasing or decreasing AI difficulty by around 10-15 points will increase or decrease the AI by one second depending on the track. This means that if you were roughly 1 second faster than your teammate, you should increase your AI difficulty by around 10-15 points. This should put the AI pretty much around your speed.

After using the qualifying mode and changing the AI difficulty, you can jump straight into the career mode. Of course, this is only if you’re confident about your standing among the AI drivers.
Finally. if you’re struggling with keeping up with the AI but don’t want to adjust the difficulty, you can try using the optimized F1 car setups. These are designed to make the car easier to control and a little bit faster as well.
Whether you want to sit back and just enjoy the F1 gameplay or want to improve your speed on the virtual track, knowing how to find the perfect AI difficulty is a great way to optimize your gameplay experience.
