F1 24 was released on Steam and consoles like PS4 & PS5 and Xbox One & Series X | S not too long ago. It is the newest F1 title you can get your hands on. If you have not tried F1 games before, this is a good place to start.
F1 24 is a realistic type of racing simulator which means it is a bit trickier to learn when compared to arcade style racing games. And how you perform in the game is reflected in your lap times. This guide will help you become faster so you can shorten your lap times.
How To Be Faster and Improve Your Lap Times
If you just started playing the game and are still confused about what to do. Then I recommend you check this out first: F1 24: Complete Beginner’s Guide. It will help you get up to speed.
Now, there are multiple ways through which you can improve your game and become faster. And not to mention, the more you practice, the better you become. But with the help of the tips that are mentioned below, you will be able to get better in the game more quickly.
Tip #1 – Camera Angles
This is the easiest tip to apply in your game that will improve your overall performance on the track. It is imperative that you have a camera angle which is more comfortable for you.
But camera angles such as the Cockpit offer very low visibility of the track. And the Chase camera angle can be quite hard to control as it does not give you a good understanding of how your car is actually performing.
The best camera angle to go with is the TV Pod as it provides good visibility and gives you a more realistic feel of your car. TV Pod Offset is also a decent choice if you prefer that.
For more information on camera angels, check out our dedicated guide. You can find it here: F1 24: Camera Settings Guide (Best TV Pod + Cockpit Cam View).
Tip #2 – Dynamic Racing Lines
The best way to master a track is by taking advantage of the Dynamic Racing Line. It is available for every track and it basically shows the best path you can follow on the track for the fastest lap time.
But it doesn’t only show the path you need to follow, it also tells you what speed you should be in. If the line is green, it means you are moving at the correct speed and can accelerate even more. But if the line becomes orange or red, then that indicates you need to slow down.
This way, you will be able to learn how to position your car in the track and where to slow down or accelerate. To enable this option, go to Settings and then go to Assists. Once there, set the Dynamic Racing Line to Full.
Once you learn how to race on a particular track, you can then disable the Dynamic Racing Line and instead use Brake Markers for help.
Tip #3 – Disabling Assists
To become faster, you will need to let go of the assists that you are using. Assists are very helpful for beginners and makes learning the game easier. But as long as you are using them, you will not be able to become truly fast. The reason for this is that when you are using Assists, you do not have complete control over your car.
So, go into Settings and then Assists. Disable one of the assists you are using. Once you get adjusted to the change, go ahead and disable one more assist. Keep doing this until you do not need any of them. It will be harder to race without them at first but with some practice, you will be able to perform much better.
Tip #4 – Overtaking Opponents
Overtaking is something that you will be doing a lot in the game when you are racing against AI. It is important you master multiple techniques of overtaking and not rely on just one. The key point here is to be unpredictable so your opponent has a hard time blocking you.
For overtaking, you usually have the choice of going inside or outside. Pick the side that is most suitable in your situation. And one more thing, always plan ahead when you are approaching your opponent.
This way, when you get close to them, you will know what to do without having to waste time on thinking. The game is fast paced and every second counts so even a small mistake can result in a crash.
Tip #5 – Optimal Car Setups
Every track in the game feels different and has a unique set of challenges. One car setup that might work in one track will not necessarily work in another track. And if you are looking to complete a track in the fastest time possible then you will be needing an optimal car setup for that track.
If you do not know what car setup to make then do not worry. We have optimal setups available for multiple tracks. You will find them below:

Tip #6 – Effective Braking
Braking is one the most important mechanics of this game which has a huge impact on your overall lap time. Learning to brake effectively will make your lap times much shorter.
One of the mistakes to avoid is to brake too early or too late. And to avoid that, you can take the help of the Dynamic Racing Line or the Braking Markers which you see at the sides of the track.
A 100 Marker will indicate a smaller braking zone, 150 Brake Marker indicates a medium braking zone and a 200 Brake Marker means you need to brake harder.
One thing to keep in mind when braking is to approach the comer in a straight line. Afterwards, apply your brake pressure and once you have slowed down a bit, then start turning. If you try to turn at the same moment you brake, you will lose grip and that can end badly.
And this is it for this guide, I hope you found it helpful! Something else that can have a positive impact on your game is having proper controller configuration. And to help you out with it, we have a guide available for it. Here it is: F1 24: Controller Settings Guide + How To Fix The Handling & Have Better Control.
