Survival crafting games often need to make you gather resources so that you can progress through the game. Some games let you punch trees to get wood, but others need you to have the right tool for the job. Not only that, but there are even tiers of tools that you need to know about!
In Once Human, you’ll need to upgrade your Pickaxe if you want to gather better materials. That’s why you’ll want to know how to get these better recipes for your tools, so you can start crafting them. It all starts with the humble copper pickaxe.
In this guide, we’ll show you how you can craft Copper Pickaxes in the game. We’ll show you how you can unlock the recipe as well as what you’ll need to gather to make one. Now, let’s get our first pickaxe in the game!
How To Craft Copper Pickaxe
In Once Human one of the main tools you’ll use to gather resources is the Pickaxe and they come in many tiers. One of the early ones that you can make is the Copper Pickaxe and to craft them is simple. All you need is the right memetics, materials, and buildings.
Here are the steps that we’ll be taking to craft a copper pickaxe in the game:
- Unlock the Copper Pickaxe Memetic.
- Build a Furnace and a Supplies Workbench.
- Get Wood, Copper Ingots, and Hides.
- Craft a Copper Pickaxe on the workbench!

Detailed Walkthrough
To get started, you’ll first need to unlock the recipe for the Copper Pickaxe. To do this go to your Memetics menu and then head to the Infrastructure tab. From there, you’ll need to research Smelting Essentials and then Copper Pickaxes.
This will not only give you the recipe for the pickaxe but also the recipes for the buildings we’ll need to make it.
Make sure that you build a Furnace and a Supplies Workbench on your base. The Copper Pickaxe needs materials and here are all the materials you’ll need:
- 5 Logs
- 7 Copper Ingots
- 2 Hides
The copper Ingots can be crafted in a furnace with Copper Ore and Charcoal while the Hides can be found by killing and looting animals.
Once you have all the materials, you’ll then want to go to a Supplies Workbench and select the Copper Pickaxe. Press the craft button and you’ll have the tool ready in a few seconds!
