Operating a ship isn’t all about going around space and being a legendary captain that takes down pirates and stuff. You also need to make a living. While looting pirate ships can be lucrative, it’s not the main source of revenue for you. Enter mining, as well as the factories available. Mining & Factories will help you make sure that you can have enough money, as well as enough resources to keep you going as you play the game. If you are interested to learn, then follow this guide and we will show you how to utilize these facilities.

Mining & Factories Guide – Cosmoteer

What can you mine in Cosmoteer? The answer is asteroids. You can find a lot of them, and there are a ton of Asteroid Fields you can find as you fly around. Not only that, but there are some stray asteroids that can pop up every once in a while. You can also mine asteroids in Asteroid Belts, which are plentiful.

Mining can take a long time to do, and it also takes up a lot of space. It is recommended to have a separate ship for the purpose of mining. Using your main ship as a mining and factory facility is an option, but the weight of all the resources and facilities can slow down your ship in both flight and combat.

When you mine, the recommended number of lasers for mining is 8. The reason for that is that your crew will be working to keep the lasers running. If there are too many lasers to power, your crew will have a hard time keeping them on.

You should also have some crew members prioritized in making sure the guns stay powered. You should also edit their priorities to have Eject Resources and Salvage / Mine as the lowest priority. If they are high, they will neglect the lasers and focus on other tasks.

After you are done mining, your factories will be doing the work. I recommend having only one of each factory. Your mining ship is for mining anyway, the facilities are just an extra to keep producing things such as ammo for your main ship. Make sure to keep them close together as well, so that you will find them easily in one location instead of being separated.
