God of War Ragnarok is the much-anticipated sequel of God of War 2018, and for a good reason. The game shifts from Greek Gods to Norse Mythology and the story is captivating.
Aside from the notable changes in graphics, the game mechanics have been revamped, and the story paints Kratos in a different light.
Instead of a rage-fueled demigod hell-bent on revenge, His journey now revolves around trying to stay out of conflict and raising his son.
The game content in God of War Ragnarok is broken down into three parts.
The Path – Main Story and Quests to complete the game.
Favors – Side Quests that grant you added experience points, equipment, and Runic Spells.
Artifacts – hidden collectibles in the game.
Labors – Sets of Challenges that you can compete in to raise your game score.
In this Guide, we will be completing one of the 11 Favours or side quests in the game called Freyr’s Gift in God of War Ragnarok.
Guide on How to Complete Freyr’s Favour in God of War Ragnarok
Freyr’s side quest can be located in the Burrows of the Forbidden Sands. Here, you will have to align the two crystals to mirrors and shine their light on Freyr’s Statue to receive His Gift.
Activate the Quest
Head towards Freyr’s Monument to activate the sub-quest. After crossing the light bridge, head to the right and up the stone platform.
First Puzzle (right side mirror and crystal)
There are two puzzles to complete in this quest. You can do them in any order but to keep everyone on the same page, let’s start with the right part first.
Search for a stone path to take you behind the red corruption vines. Use your Axe and throw it on the bulging part to destroy it. This will unlock the crystal mirrors that point directly to Freyr’s Statue.
Right side Crystal Location
Make your way back to the entrance. As you reach the bottom, there will be a path to your left from the Monument entrance. Take the path down to find the Crystal.
First Puzzle Solution
Carry the Crystal back to the top where the first mirror is located. Position the mirror to reflect the crystal light to shine on Freyr’s Amulet on the statue.
Second Puzzle (Left side Crystal and Mirror)
Head back down and go to the opposite side of the area. The path leading to the left mirror will be blocked by rocks.
Disable Light Bridge
Disable the light bridge leading to the second mirror by removing the crystal from its pedestal directly below the bridge.
Set it down on the ground and go on top of the elevated platform to get a better view of the rocks blocking your path.
Creating a Path
Throw your Axe to smash a path leading up to the mirror. When the rock wall crumbles, head down and replace the crystal on its pedestal to activate the light bridge.
Break Corruption Vine
Head back to where you got the first crystal on the right side of the area. Before reaching it, you will find a red wall out of reach.
Freya will launch her arrows at the red wall to break it and you will have to time your throw to destroy the second corruption beyond the wall.
Afterward, head down and get the crystal behind the wall. A path will now be open to you to reach it.
Second Puzzle Solution (Left Side Crystal)
Carry the Crystal up the platform and past the light bridge. Deposit it in front of the mirror to activate Freyr’s Gift.
Collect the Reward
With the puzzle completed, all you need to do is go down and retrieve the rewards to officially complete the Favour.
