Shiny Pokemon are seen in the overworld of Scarlet and Violet, allowing you to identify them from a crowd rather than engaging in countless blind encounters.

The process is the same as catching any other Pokemon, and your only challenge is raising the chances of spawning one.

How to Get a Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Shiny Pokemon aren’t precisely shiny; instead, they have different colors other than those of their standard forms. It’s not common to see these in the wild; only 1 in 4,096 Pokemon are shiny.

With that said, a sizable community of Pokemon players has long been devoted to increasing the chances of spawning and getting your hands on one.

Getting a Shiny Pokemon

Shiny Pokemon can spawn almost anywhere in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Unlike Pokemon Legends Arceus, they no longer make a unique sound, making them more challenging to spot.

If you can’t tell by the discoloration, use Let’s Go to toss out your first Pokemon and see if it’s shiny. This means that you’ll know it’s a Shiny Pokemon when your Pokemon doesn’t attempt to knock it out.

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the odds of spawning a Shiny Pokemon are 1/4096.

However, these chances can be increased by making sandwiches. This will increase the Shiny rates, as well as, encountering Pokemon during Mass Outbreaks, and obtaining the Shiny Charm.

At the Picnic, you can make sandwiches using different ingredients. To obtain Level 3 Recipes late in the game, speak with the Sandwich Recipe NPC at any sandwich store. These dishes are made with Herba Mystica components that you can obtain through 5-Star Tera Raids.

Mass Outbreaks are rare daily occurrences. A mass outbreak alert will appear somewhere in the Paldea Region, where powerful Pokemon spawn and swarm.

You can temporarily increase your chances of spawning a Shiny Pokemon by defeating or capturing Pokemon in a Mass Outbreak.
