In Facebook Messenger, or do we call it Meta now? This new name change is confusing. Anyway, in Messenger you can delete messages that you’ve accidentally sent, sometimes it’s not an accident but don’t worry we won’t tell. Sometimes you want to recover these messages though, and there’s not really a big button that says recover there. To recover deleted messages needs a bit more effort than that since it’s hidden in the settings just like the message, so you’ll need to find it. In this guide we’ll show you how to recover deleted messages.

Reminder that this trick may vary in mileage, it can work for you and sometimes it won’t work on others. There’s been people who can’t get this to work on group chats so keep that in mind when doing this recovery. So this is how you recover deleted messages on messenger.
Go to your messenger app and then go to the Menu > Settings > Profile Settings > Access profile information and at the very bottom you can press “Download your Information.” from there you can see what you can download, from saved items to posts to comments and stories. You can now download the information, it’ll go to pending first as Facebook tries to compile all the data you need. After a while you’ll be able to download it so just be patient.
Remember that this may not always work, sometimes Facebook just doesn’t have the data anymore, perhaps because it’s been too long or they couldn’t get the data.
