If you haven’t played Don’t Starve Together, then you should definitely give it a try. This game (that looks like it was made by Tim Burton) features an impressive gameplay system that makes you question if what you’re doing to survive is worth it, because there are consequences to your actions.
The game has been out for quite a while now, with the original Don’t Starve being released back in 2013. The difference between Don’t Starve and Don’t Starve Together is that the latter is a standalone multiplayer expansion of the game, meaning that you can play the horrifyingly disturbing game with friends, which helps lessen the fear.
Raft

If you want a change from the usual scenery of trees and abandoned buildings, then you can try playing Raft. This game is possibly one of the most creative survival games out there. The premise is that you are in a world where the planet has been consumed with water, leaving little to no land, and you start out in a 2×2 raft, which you slowly build upon by collecting resources that float by you.
The game is incredibly fun to play as you have to survive on a small piece of wood, surrounded by water and sharks that are waiting to eat you up the moment you dip one pinky toe in the water. However, I don’t recommend this to people with thalassophobia.
Subnautica

Continuing the water trend, Subnautica is another survival game that takes place mostly on a planet that is mostly submerged in water. The premise of the game is that your ship crash landed on a planet that is mostly water, with you being the only survivor. With your chances of survival being incredibly slim, you are still determined to find a way off the planet.
The game can be a horror game sometimes, as there are dark areas and sea monsters that will not hesitate to attack and eat you. People with thalassaphobia will not have a good time, but if you are brave enough, I suggest trying it out. Just don’t go to the Dead Zone. This is your first and only warning.
State of Decay 2

Moving away from water and other things, we’re back on land with a classic survival game that does not have to deal with large, gargantuan creatures that can eat you with one bite. Instead, we’re dealing with human sized monsters that will eat you until you’re flesh and bones. That’s right, I’m talking about zombies.
State of Decay 2 is the sequel to the first State of Decay that came out during a time where every game wanted to have zombies because The Walking Dead made it cool. If you see trailers for State of Decay 2, you can definitely see how it took inspiration from the popular series. From managing survivors and base, looting houses and other areas for resources, it’s a fun game to play by yourself, or with friends.
