Single-player games nowadays have a tendency to have a ton of features that some people don’t really like, like damage numbers, UI where you have to move a cursor around, gear with stats, and even gear rarities.
It’s mostly in RPGs, but it can get pretty annoying having to deal with all of this when you’re an old-fashioned gamer (like me).
Hogwarts Legacy is another game that features a gear system, which means you are going to have to grind for legendary gear.
Here’s a guide on how to do that.

#1 Save Your Game Before Opening Large Chests
In Hogwarts Legacy, you can find a lot of large chests scattered all over the game.
These chests are very big, and they have a very ornate design. They’re not hard to miss, but they are hard to find.
When you do find one, you need to do one important thing: save your game. In fact, make two saves. Just in case. Not because what you’re about to do is going to break the game, but just for precaution.
After saving the game, you will then open the large chest and you will always, 100%, be guaranteed legendary gear. Whether it’s a cloak or a scarf, you will get one.
However, if you do not like the item you got from the chest, then simply reload the save file that you made before opening the chest. Once loaded in, open the chest again, and you will get a new item.
You can do this as many times as you want per chest. However, be warned that if you choose not to load your game again after getting an item that you like and keeping it, then that chest will remain empty forever.
This isn’t Marvel’s Midnight Suns, where the chest refills itself every couple of days.
#2 Reveal Unidentified Gear
Another great way to get legendary gear is to identify unidentified gear by using the Desk of Description. This can only be done when you have unlocked the Room of Requirement and if you have the Desk of Description conjured inside the room.
When you get unidentified gear, you won’t be able to do much with it. That’s why you need to have the Desk of Description.
Go inside the Room of Requirement and approach the Desk of Description.
You will get a prompt to identify all of the unidentified gear you have on you. Holding the prompt will then identify all the gear you have on you. You can get a legendary item from it, which is worth having it.
