World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Season 4 | A Complete Guide to Fated Raids & Puzzling Cartel Dinars

New season new things to keep an eye out. We’ve got farming bosses, grinding for gear, fated raids, new rewards and much more in store for the player! So let’s skip the small talk and get right to it.

Fated Raids

Each week a raid will be marked Fated, you can see which raid is fated by looking for the icon at the top right of the raid. A fated raid means Bosses get an additional mechanic players have to go through and upon defeating the boss will give you higher leveled drops.

Each boss will only have one additional mechanic called “Fated Affixes” so don’t worry about having too much mechanics since one isn’t really that big of an addition.

These are all the affixes you may encounter in the raids:

  • Creation Spark: Target two random players with Creation Spark increasing character size as well as stacking damage to them for every second to a total of 30 seconds.
    • Healers can dispel the Creation Spark which will leave 3 white rings on the ground near the dispelled player. Other players will then need to step on them to soak the creation spark which in turn will buff them.
    • Failing to soak the Creation spark will cause it to explode giving a raid-wide ticking damage for each spark not soaked.
  • Chaotic Essense: Drops a friendly Chaotic Essence that will cast Chaotic Destruction which will deal massive damage to everyone when not interacted. Not so friendly.
    • When interacted upon it will turn hostile, stop the spell and instead spawn smaller chaotic motes that will do raid-wide damage until they are defeated.
    • Chaotic motes will multiply upon defeat.
    • After 15 seconds of spawning the Chaotic Essence will disappear and will buff the players.
  • Protoform Barrier: Empowers the boss and deal raid-wide damage every 3 seconds while the effect is active.
    • When dispelled it will spawn one hostile barrier enemy that will give absorb shields to the enemies.
    • When dispelled it will also spawn one friendly barrier ally that the healers can heal up to reduce the shared shield of the hostile barrier enemy.
    • When the barrier enemy is defeated, it will deal all damage dealt to it back to the boss. This will also buff the players.
    • If the barrier enemy is not destroyed it will explode doing raid-wide damage.
  • Reconfiguration Emitter: Summons an attackable emitter that will continuously cast. It’s immune to damage until it’s interrupted once.
    • The emitter will continuously cast, and when not interrupted will do raid-wide damage.
    • The emitter will keep on getting energy, destroy it when it has high energy to get the most buffs.

Fated World Bosses

World bosses will also be fated depending on which Raid is fated with each world boss corresponding to a raid. So fated world bosses will also drop better loot.

Fated Raid Rewards

When finishing all Fated raids in certain difficulties it will give you unique rewards for doing so. Here are the rewards for each difficulty:

  • Normal Difficulty: Slime Cat Mount.
  • Heroic Difficulty: Title “Hero of Fate.”
  • Mythic Difficulty: Unlock Shadowland Raid Teleports.

Puzzling Cartel Dinar

When entering your first fated Raid you’ll get the quest “Crossing Fate” which will let you start earning your first Puzzling Cartel Dinar. You can get these Dinars from killing Fated bosses repeatedly. Just remember that if you defeat a boss in one difficulty, it won’t count bosses in other difficulties for that week.

You can get 3 Dinars in total with the first one having you kill 30 fated bosses, another one for 15 bosses and the last one for 5 fated bosses.

You can then exchange these Dinars for weapons, off-hands and trinkets from one of the shadowland raids, bypassing some of the RNG in the game! These items will be in the normal raid level though and you’ll need to kill heroic and mythic fated bosses to upgrade them from normal to heroic and then to mythic.

Get 20 Confounding Antique Cypher from fated bosses which combines into a Cosmic Creation Impetus which makes your normal fated raid item to Heroic tier.

Defeating mythic fated bosses will give you 1 Confounding Ancient Cypher each. 20 of them will combine into a Sacred Creation Impetus which will raise a Heroic Tier Fated Item to Mythic.

Congratulations you now know the basics of Shadowlands Season 4, now go out there and start grinding! Massive thanks to oo for showing everyone how the new season works.
