Albion Online is a popular MMORPG that has been around for quite some time now. It’s not as popular as other games like World of Warcraft, but it does have a large enough fanbase to keep the game going. That fanbase grows everyday as new players that are curious about the game will eventually jump in and try the game out, only to love it and invest time into the game. That means we have newbies that need to know how the game works. If you’re looking for a guide to how gear works, then this guide is for you.

Armor Differences
There are three types of armor that you should know: Plate, Leather, and Cloth. Now, these three armors will have different stats, but they all do the same thing: boosts your Health and Energy, as well as granting Health Regen and Energy Regen. In the case of the chest pieces, they give more effects by adding Damage. Healing, Armor, Magic Resist, CC Duration, and Reduction.
While the chest pieces share the same effects, they vary stat wise. The Plate armor has a higher focus on defense and low focus on damage, making this a not so good armor set for those who are playing solo. The Cloth, however, does the opposite: it grants you high damage with low defense. Then we have the middle man, the Leather armor. This gives you medium damage and defense, perfect for all around performance.
Starting with the Plate armor, this is a very much must have for those in groups. Every group needs a tanky member that can charge in and get out with nary a scratch on them. Tanks are a godsend in groups, but solo is a whole different story. The Plate armor does low damage that it feels like you might as well just stare at them because that does more damage than your attacks.
It is wholly advised to avoid the Plate armor when doing solo. It is not a great armor for those who plan on playing alone.
Cloth, on the other hand, does larger damage. It is the polar opposite of Plate, in which it does more damage but has low defense. Playing solo with the Cloth armor is great, because the high damage allows for faster clearing of enemies. But again, it does make you take more damage than Leather and Plate.
In a group, healers and DPS use this more than anything. If you switch from Plate to Armor, then you are no longer a tank. You are now a DPS (healer if you want to).
Moving on to our last armor, we have Leather. This one is the perfect choice for those that want to get up close and personal but do a little bit more damage than those who wear Plate armor. With the Leather armor, you will have medium damage and medium defense. So, while you are not dealing out damage like a Cloth armor would, at least you can take hits like a weaker version of the Plate armor.
