Anime Defenders: Best Unit Tier List (Update 5)

In the Update 5 of Anime Defenders, the meta is has shifted once again. With new units added, as well as buffs and nerfs, some units have become more or less effective. As you may know, it’s important that you understand which units are best and just bad, so you can make more-informed decisions on which units to prioritize, so you don’t end up wasting resources. In my tier list, I’ll be ranking the best and most powerful characters in the game, as well as show you which units you shouldn’t be evolving!

Best Unit Tier List (Update 5)

In my tier list, I’ll have separate S Tiers for the meta units and support units. But basically, they’re the best and strongest units, so always prioritize them if you have them. As for others, while they might provide value, know which units you should evolve before the others.

Units in Anime Defenders ranked from best to worst.

S+ Tier

First up, we have S+ Tier units, which are pretty much the best of the best units in the game. Realistically, it’s difficult to rank these units definitively because they all serve different purposes. You could argue for ranking them, but it’s important to remember that each excels in its own way.

For example, Igis is the best at debuffing enemies and providing utility. Shadow Dragon shines in buffing nearly everything, while Luna Empress is a powerhouse in dealing massive damage. Similarly, Infinite Dragon Mage is amazingfor burn damage, Gojo excels in slow AoE, and Pide offers hybrid slow.

They’re all extremely valuable, though often difficult to obtain, as these units are considered some of the best in the game.

S Tier

These units under S Tier are the some of the best units in the game right now (only performing a bit under S+ Tier units). Units like Gilgamesh stand out due to their bleed effect, which can be boosted by Demon Lord, making him a powerful combo unit. However, without Demon Lord, Gilgamesh’s potential drops a bit. The same goes for Kizaru, who ranks high because of his role as a pure ground unit; a rarity in the game.

S+ Tier (Support)

The units in the S+ Tier (Support) are a must-get, starting with Pink Rockstar, followed by Ice Dragon Queen and Pink Demon Witch; they are top priority. There are others like Grand Jade Fire Knight, Legion Assassin, and Demon Lord, who are also great, but the top three I’ve mentioned are essential.

A Tier

Up next, the A Tier units are considered good, if not solid. These units will serve you well for a decent amount of time, but they can’t compete with the current meta. I know some people won’t like where I’ve placed Hakari, but unfortunately, he’s not meta. He’s probably the weakest Secret unit unless you compare him to D.E. He could be better with buffs, but right now, Hakari isn’t cutting it.

If you’re new to the game, you might consider summoning for units like Flame Dragon King or Crimson Demon Ninja but focus on meta units (S Tier to S+ Tier Units) if you can.

S Tier (Support)

Now, these are the decent supports in the game. If you’re new to the game, the units you should focus on are Blumer (or Bulma) and Cursed Sorcerer (Itadori); they are solid starter units.

  • Bulma is a farm unit, providing extra resources, which is crucial since there aren’t many farm units in the game.
  • Itadori helps by making enemies take more damage. While he’s not meta, he’s a good early support choice.

B Tier

Up next, we have the B Tier units like Warrior Queen, Beast Sorcerer, Elf Wizardess, Sharpshooter & Ant King. These units aren’t worth summoning or grinding for, but if you happen to get one and you’re really struggling in the game, it might be okay to evolve them. Still, I don’t recommend it unless you accidentally pick one up and have no other options.

C Tier

There’s not much explaining for the C Tier units: Skull Warrior, Thunder Hokage & Unstable Esper. Basically, do not summon these units. If you get them, don’t bother evolving them!

D Tier

Lastly, we have the D Tier Units which includes Darkness King. They’re decent, but they’re more collectible than practical. If you can get a D Tier unit, you likely already have strong units, so there’s no real point in ranking them high. You can always trade them for better units, but grinding for D Tier units to actually use them isn’t worth it.

Summing things up

There you have it! That’s my ranking for the best and worst units in Anime Defenders. Remember, a definitive tier list is always impossible, given how each unit excels in different areas of the game.

The best units are often subjective, depending on the strategy you aim for, the in-game content (like Raids) you’re in, and the synergy between your units. While some units stand out as top-tier choices due to their versatility, damage output, or unique abilities, others are situational powerhouses that can turn the tide and still perform in specific scenarios.

So, always aim to build a well-rounded roster and don’t get too caught up in my rankings; focus on acquiring units that fit into your strategy. Remember, even lower-ranked units can shine when used effectively in the right situation!
