Grimoires are powerful magic books found in Anime Tales that grant the wielder a significant boost in strength and give them access to new abilities. With this in mind, this guide focuses on how to gain Grimoires for faster progress.
For your convenience, this guide will be split into two parts. The first part will focus on how to find grimoires, and the second will focus on how to switch between different grimoires.
How to Find Grimoires
To find a Grimoire, keep an eye out on the chat in the upper left corner of the screen. Occasionally, a system message will appear in the chat saying, “A citizen has discovered a Grimoire, find them and take it.”
This is your cue to go around and start fighting NPCs. The difference between normal NPCs and those with a Grimoire is that the latter will transform once attacked, indicating they have the Grimoire. It is recommended to get powerful new armor or upgrade existing one from the Blacksmith. Check out this guide on how to locate the Blacksmith.
Ensure you are ready to fight this NPC since they are much stronger than normal NPCs due to the Grimoire. Once the NPC is defeated, they will drop the Grimoire, and you will have around 15 seconds to claim it, so be quick.
After getting the Grimoire, you can use it by filling in the Yellow bar on top of the screen. This can be filled by defeating NPCs around the world. Once the bar is filled, use T, the default key bind to trigger the transformation.
Lastly, it is important to note that although there are 4 obtainable Grimoires, you can use only one at a given time. In case you find another NPC with a Grimoire and redeem its Grimoire, the one that you are using will be replaced with the new one.
How to Switch between Grimoires
Although players can only hold one Grimoire at a given time, this does not mean that any previous ones you have used are forgotten. To use any previous Grimoire you have obtained, you must head to the Mountain Top on Samurai Island.
If you haven’t visited Samurai Island yet, go to the giant ship that can be seen from the Safe Zone.
Once you get on the ship, go in a straight line until you reach Skull Island. From there, follow the path on the right until you reach a dock. From the dock straight ahead, you can spot the next island, so head over there.
Head straight for the Mountain Top, which you should be able to spot due to the faint Green letters indicating the point of interest. You can use abilities such as Godspeed to make climbing the mountain easier.
At the top of the mountain, talk to the Grimoire Dealer to relearn any previously acquired Grimoires. Each relearn requires 1000 gems, so ensure you have the required currency.
