Having a well-polished fictionalized copy of yourself in a fantasy game like Baldur’s Gate 3 is the same as achieving a failed goal you used to have for skipping out on the gym too much. Social skills may or may not be included.

But not everything is always set in stone, even your own character customization decisions at the very beginning. So it’s not surprising if you ever want to make more changes to your looks later on. The question is, can you actually do it? Check out what we have in store for you and find out more!

Can you Change your Character’s Appearance?

The only thing you can change later on in the game are the armor pieces that you have equipped. Making changes to your race, hair color, facial features, or body type is no longer possible once the ball starts rolling. This lack of flexibility may be disappointing to players who wish to make more changes along the way, but that’s just how it is in Baldur’s Gate 3.

You do however, have the Mask of the Shapeshifter. An item that lets you disguise yourself as almost any race using Level One Illusion Spells. You can also use the spell Disguise Self, it has the same effect from using the Mask of the Shapeshifter.

Getting the Mask of the Shapeshifter is as easy as going to the Larian Studios website and linking your in-game account. Make sure that you bought the Digital Deluxe Edition. This will give you the Treasure of Rivellon which contains the mask.

If you ever so desire to make changes to your character’s appearance then your next best option for now is starting a new game entirely. Not the best option since you don’t really want to go through hell a second time. Let alone repeat the same cutscenes with little to no difference in dialogue.

You might be thinking that Respeccing your class once you meet Withers translates to you being able to change your appearance, but no. This only changes your stats and skills. But fear not, maybe Larian will have a change of heart in the future. That or we’ll get mods that will basically do the same thing.

Here we have Alexis, he's been gaming ever since the second Famicom came out. Which is probably the reason why he goes back to platformers every now and then. Somewhere down the line he started getting more and more fascinated about looking at maps change colors for three to eight hours straight. If he's not out strategizing and beating the life out of his space bar in that order there's a good chance you can find him playing an FPS or talking someone's ear out about how game balance gets in the way of realism. You can tell that he really likes getting the full experience of whatever he gets his hands on.
