As you progress through the Third Act in Baldur’s Gate you’ll be tasked with getting three distinct pieces of stone for what’s to come. If you know anything about who holds these stones then you would know that this is nothing more than a simple walk in the park. Only except, there is no park and you’re being beaten to a pulp while blindfolded.

Finding rocks to take on a giant brain sounds like a chore, so maybe there’s another way to go on about things? Find out more about what other options you may have by reading through the rest of the guide!

Confronting The Elder Brain Without Collecting Netherstones | Secret Bad Ending

You have three stones that you need to get from Gortash, Orin, and Ketheric Thorm. All of them are part of the story so there’s a good chance that these stones will end up with you one way or another. Not to mention that Orin also has a legendary weapon called Bloodthirst that you can take aside from the stone.

But you’re here on your own terms. The Emperor will nag on about how your efforts will be pointless if you wish to confront the The Netherbrain without the full set of stones. There won’t be anything else you can do either once the final cutscene finishes where you transform completely.

Baldur's Gate 3 Secret Bad Ending Dinghy

Head over to the Morphic Pool Dock in the Undercity Ruins. At X: -88, Y: 1158, you’ll find a dinghy that leads into the darkness. Interact with it once and The Emperor will warn you about the fool’s errand you’re about to go on. Interact with it twice, and he’ll express mild annoyance towards you, and for good reason.

Click on the dinghy again for a third time to trigger a cutscene with The Netherbrain. Your character will be turned into a Mind Flayer and your companions are nowhere to be found. Perhaps they suffered the same fate as you, but who knows?

Baldur's Gate 3 Secret Bad Ending Netherbrain NPC

You already know what a Mind Flayer looks like in Baldur’s Gate 3. Finish the cutscene and the game will tell you that the world you live in is now royally screwed. That’s right, no more High Sun Games until further notice. Maybe you should’ve listened to that voice in your head after all?

Here we have Alexis, he's been gaming ever since the second Famicom came out. Which is probably the reason why he goes back to platformers every now and then. Somewhere down the line he started getting more and more fascinated about looking at maps change colors for three to eight hours straight. If he's not out strategizing and beating the life out of his space bar in that order there's a good chance you can find him playing an FPS or talking someone's ear out about how game balance gets in the way of realism. You can tell that he really likes getting the full experience of whatever he gets his hands on.
