In Baldur’s Gate 3, the path of the Assassin awaits those who favor stealth, precision, and cunning. As an Assassin, you’ll master the art of silent takedowns, poisonings, and surprise attacks. Utilize your skills in infiltration to gain upper hand in battles. Additionally, you might even attract the attention of the God of Murder, Bhaal. In this guide, we will assist you on how to become The Assassin of Bhaal in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Become The Assassin of Bhaal
In order to become the Unholy Assassin of Bhal, you must go through trials and ultimately impress the Dread Lord’s Tribunal. Specifically, Sarevok Anchev, the overseer. Here are the steps that you’ll need to do. Let’s jump right into it!
Find The List of Targets
First thing you need to do is locating the List of Targets. One can be found during your playthrough in Act 3, while you are working to solve the Open Hand Temple murders.
In this Act’s subquest, enter Fraygo’s Flophouse, as shown in the image below.
Then, climb the stairs and then ascend the ladder.
Once you have the Shapeshifter’s key, proceed to enter a hidden room through a wardrobe. Inside, retrieve the Bloodstained Parchment located on the table.
Once you have the parchment, open your inventory, hover over the item, and click to read it. The parchment contains both a letter and a list of names and their locations.
These are the following names indicated on the list
- Duke Belynne Stelmane – Elfsong Tavern, Lower City
- Father Lorgan – Open Hand Temple, Rivington
- Dribbles the Clown – Circus of the Last Days, Rivington
- Alexander Rainforest – Office near the Counting House, Lower City
- Franc Peartree – Abode near Feolgyr’s Fireworks, Lower City
- Cora Highberry – Large home near Baldur’s Mouth Gazette, Lower City
- Figaro Pennygood – Facemaker’s Fashion, Lower City
- Chef Roveer – Elfsong Tavern kitchen, Lower City
- Nesha Leesha – Blushing Mermaid, Lower City
- Varri Vanthampur – Vanthampur Villa, Lower City
- Fridrick Hhune – Hhune House, Upper City
Kill Any Target
Eliminate any target listed and remember to obtain a hand from them.
Following these actions, an NPC named Olfaith Olumssdottir will approach you to initiate a conversation.
He will then request that you eliminate another individual from the list, stressing the importance of collecting their hand as it will be necessary for “what lies ahead”.
Canduhollow’s Tombstones
After you’ve successfully eliminated another target and acquired one of their hands, he will reappear. At this point, he will give you clear instructions to proceed to Canduhollow’s Tombstones. Your task will be to present the severed hands as evidence of your murders to the Murder Tribunal.
Upon entering Canduhollow’s Tombstones, proceed to the farthest and smallest room. Click the button on the wall and interact with the cellar door. When you interact with it, speak the passphrase “Sicarius”.
As you enter, defeat the Dwarf who wanted passage to the hideout. Once you’ve killed him, the guards will grant you access to the Tribunal Hideout.
Impress the Murder Tribunal
Upon entering, you’ll come across Sarevok Anchev, a Bhaalist who nearly caused Baldur’s Gate’s downfall a hundred years ago. He now serves as the overseer of the Dread Lord’s Tribunal.
To become an Unholy Assassin of Bhaal, it’s important to leave an impression on the tribunal. Achieve this by selecting the correct response following their statements.
He says that this tribunal is sought by those aiming to rise higher and aspiring to become Unholy Assassins of Bhaal. A response can be chosen after this, choose “Sarevok Anchev, how are you still alive?”.
Sarevok will explain how his sibling orchestrated his resurrection. Furthermore, he’ll share details about his granddaughter Orin, who happens to be Bhaal’s youngest Unholy Assassin. When prompted with this statement, choose “Orin is your granddaughter?”.
Next, he will recount the story of how Orin rose to become Bhaal’s youngest prodigy. Orin’s mother, burdened by her daughter’s talents, aimed to kill her by planning to smother and offer Orin as a sacrifice to Bhaal. However, in a shocking turn of events, it was Orin instead that slayed her mother. The Lord of Murder’s voice then resonated through Orin, instructing Sarevok to protect her in His Name. For this, choose the response “I see why Bhaal has chosen Orin”.
Moreover, he will explain that your purpose isn’t to discuss Orin, but to transform into an Unholy Assassin just like her. He will request you to step forward to be judged. Choose “I will make Bhaal proud”.
The tribunal will manifest the souls of those you’ve killed. Sarevok will then request you to speak on behalf of the soul, given that you were the one who ended its existence. Following that, he will ask about the manner in which the pitiable creature has been slain. Respond to this with, “First I ended its sorry existence. Then I cut the hand from its corpse.”
Afterwards, the tribunal comes to a decision that you slaughter well, thus deeming you worthy.
Become the Unholy Assassin
Accompany Sarevok to the Dread Lord’s abattoir. For your ultimate trial, you must eliminate a celestial being. Don’t fret, as it’s already restrained in the pit. A cutscene will follow once you’ve defeated it.
In the end, you’ll acquire the Amulet of Bhaal, granting you access to the undercity Temple of Bhaal. This amulet can also be equipped to afflict your targets with a Bleeding effect.
And with that, you have now become the Unholy Assassin of Bhaal in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to leave them in the comments section below.
