Dungeons come and go in the known world, and it is the duty of adventurers and glory seekers alike to scrounge around these places of interest before any emissaries start laying any false claims on them. Now some of you may think that any dungeon would be easy enough to go through without any prior knowledge whatsoever, well in Black Desert Online you’ll be in for a surprise. Not only do you have to clear rooms left and right, but you also have to deal with the puzzles that seem to have no end. But in this dungeon guide, you’ll have no problems going through Vahmalkea and her many trials.
Vahmalkea Dungeon Guide | Black Desert Online
There’s two words that usually come up when dungeons become the subject of a conversation, and those words would usually be “big money.” An equal amount of investment and preparations will have to be made of course before setting out, so here’s what you need to remember if this is your first time:
- You need to be at least Lv. 57 or higher.
- The questline “Invitation from I” should’ve already been completed along with either the“Awakening” or “Succession.”
The first quest will have you go around town to open the door to the dungeon. Talk to the Black Spirit and choose the quest that’s highlighted on the image above, you’ll eventually end up in the Ancient Stone Chamber where you have to talk with Edan. After a few more bits and pieces of dialog you’ll be teleported to Vaha’s Sky.
The monsters will periodically spawn in this area as you fight on through, with each having their own special mechanic which makes them all the easier to defeat. They’ll appear later on as well as you delve deeper into the dungeon:
Monoceros
One of the mini bosses that you will deal with will be the Monoceros, whenever you encounter these all you have to do is pull them over some cracks that appear on the floor for them to get hit by the steam. This will weaken its DP which in turn makes them easier to get rid of.
Cetus
Other encounters will have you deal with Cetus, just pay attention to the notification that will appear below its health bar and hit it with any floating CC ability, this will knock the mob down for 10 seconds leaving it open to any attack.
Lacerta
Lacerta will summon four additional monsters to aid itself against you. A prompt will appear on your screen as the beast attempts to empower his minions, this is the perfect time to interrupt it with a Knockdown CC which will also weaken him in the process.
Creomar
For the Creomar, the best approach will be to keep hitting it with DPS attacks until it slams its shield to the ground. It’s immune to damage everywhere except for its back so that’s what you should be targeting once you get its shield down.
Putrakium
These can only be killed using the Vahmalkea Matchlock, to get that weapon you need to exchange x2 Cold Thorns with the NPCs in Atoraxxion. The bird will get knocked over once you get rid of the other four, the rest is just you giving it as much DPS as you can before its mobile again.
Krahtenn
This fellow enjoys using lightning attacks, you can stop these attacks with a matchlock to CC him and damage his power core. The power core has a separate HP and will weaken the beast once destroyed, preventing him from using any more charged lightning attacks. Don’t move to different sections during your fight as that will spawn in more unnecessary mobs that will make fighting more tedious.
Moving on to the next phase, you’ll encounter some pillars that need to be moved around until they all point towards the orb at the center. You can do this by stepping on the switch that’s right in front of it. More mobs will spawn in once you activate the orb, clear out the room to make space for Ahten as you will only take around 30-40 seconds to get rid of it.
For the final phase, split your party into two and head over to the corners of the room where more mobs will be waiting for you. These mobs need to be taken down at the exact same time to 50% HP, sounds easy enough until you remember that you only have a short timed window to do this.
Fail and their HP will reset and you’ll have to do everything all over again, which will definitely have an impact on your mental faculties. So tank the mobs in your respective corners and you should be able to get to the next phase without any issue.
The next phase will have you deal with a puzzle where you need to drag shapes around the field to match the appropriately colored pillar. Each pillar will need three pieces of the same color, have your group run around and collect all the colors needed. And be mindful of the floating rocks! These obstacles will put you down if you touch any of them by accident.
Complete the color phase and the towers will start to glow white, this will leave the boss vulnerable to increased damage and will not be able to move.
For the final phase drag the boss over to a corner of the room once more, you’re doing this because you’ll be dealing with lava filling up the room as well. Maneuver him around so the room doesn’t fill up too quickly and attack his rear with whatever DPS you have.
Do enough damage and the boss will eventually get knocked over, which in turn will delay the lava from spawning. Get more damage in during this window before another section of the room fills up, after that it’s just rinse and repeat until you put him down for good. That’s all the prep work you need to take on the dungeon, now go in there and get some fat loot!
