Black Grimoire Odyssey is a Roblox dungeon crawler that allows you play as any of the races that are available in the game. Humans, Canine, Feline, Undead, Dark Elf, Elf, or even Giant. Whatever race you pick out, you will have some sort of bonus that will let you perform better in one area compared to the others.
But which race is really the best? In this tier list, you will get to see the rankings of each race and why they are placed in that rank.
Best Race Tier List
There are 17 races you can get in Black Grimoire Odyssey. Each of these races have their own specialty that makes them better in some areas compared to other races. But which is the best race overall? Here are the races, their ranks, and why they are ranked that way:
S Tier
- Dryads – The best of the best in the game is Dryads, no doubt. Not only do you get an increase in anything magic, but you also have a perk called Love By Nature, which is essentially a luck boost on top of the luck boost you already have. Loot is no doubt something you will get in this game, but the kind of loot you get when you have increased luck is amazing.
- Fairies – Fairies are great in this game because of one thing: flight. While they have low health, you can stay up in the air and cause damage from above. Enemies will have a hard time hitting you, and since Fairies mostly have support spells, you can enjoy using that 40% support spell increase. It does have a downside of taking increased damage, but that’s only if you get hit. You will be up in the air most of the time, making you hard to hit. You also have better luck than most.
- Dragons – Dragons are some of the best races in Black Grimoire Odyssey. You may not know it, but this game focuses on Fire a lot. There’s a lot of fire magic being thrown around in this game, and having Dragon as your race helps a lot due to their Unburnable perk. Not only that, but Dragons have a huge 50% increase in damage, so you can do a lot of damage with this class.
A Tier
- Dwarves – Dwarves are a great race if you’re thinking of doing a melee build. They are fast and small, have a 40% melee damage increase, and have a nice Mana with Mana Regeneration. If you’re looking to do some high damage against your enemies while avoiding hits, being a Dwarf may be for you.
- Slimes – Slimes are quite possibly the biggest tanks in the game. While they may not seem like it, Slimes have a perk called Soft Body that negates the damage by 50%, which is incredibly high. But that’s not where it ends, as Slimes have high HP as well. They do have a negative offensive magic and slow walk speed as a drawback, but that’s not so bad considering that Slimes can still do big damage if built with melee in mind.
- Demons – Demons are most likely a potential heavy hitter if buffed correctly. Right now, they are great when it comes to melee damage, but everything magical is atrocious. You will get a decrease in your support magic, which means healing is something you can barely do, and your luck is literally in the negatives.
- Humans – Humans are the best class to start with. Reason why is because they have an experience boost of 25%. While they have standard stats, the 25% experience boost will allow you to hit max level within a day of grinding.
- Orcs – Orcs are great when you want to focus on being a tanky player. They have bigger health compared to other races and have higher defense. If you build your Orc right, you can even get higher damage. However, since the game also has magic in the game and it does tend to favor magic sometimes, the Orcs are at a disadvantage with magic, as anything magic related for Orcs get a decrease.
- Giants – Giants in this game are 50/50. While they are strong and have a high melee damage and defense with a high hit radius, they also have high hitboxes. Due to the size of the giant, enemies can attack you easily as your size means you’re much easier to hit. It’s a shame that when Giants are supposed to be strong, Dwarves are just a bit stronger than they are.
B Tier
- Dark Elves & Elves – While Dark Elves and Elves are completely different races, they have the same stats. Those stats, however, are very mediocre. The only noticeable highlight from them is the 50% increase to support magic, but support magic isn’t that good in this game. The only thing that differentiates Dark Elves from Elves are the different perks that let Dark Elves have a boost with Dark Magic and Elves have a boost with Light Magic.
- Goblins – Goblins are actually pretty good in the game. They have a 10% boost to experience and melee, which is good for when you want to grind. Not only that, but they also have the Greedy perk, which gives Goblins a much better chance to get better loot. However, their base stats aren’t that very good compared to other races.
- Mushrooms – Mushrooms have mediocre stats, but they have great Mana Regeneration. If you’re able to build your Mushroom to have high DPS, then you can combine that with the race’s high Mana Regeneration to create a Glass Cannon build. But I wouldn’t spend too much with Mushrooms as they don’t provide a whole lot more.
C Tier
- Felines – Felines are essentially the same as Canines. This race contains all of the increased stats like the Canines. However, they have an additional buff where they get an increased speed when Haste is cast on them. The increased speed is doubled for Felines, making them that much faster.
- Canines – Canines, while a little faster and can jump higher, only has increased stats. Compared to Humans, you will only get a slight increase in HP, Mana Regeneration, and Melee Damage. The stat increases are not really good compared to other races when they reach max level.
- Aquatic – Aquatic are good for mostly support. The stats on the Aquatic race are very mediocre, oftentimes not enough to fight well in battle. However, they are good for support due to their increased buff with support magic. And even then, support magic is entirely situational, and the chances of it happening are not that high. Other than that, Aquatic’s aren’t good for anything else.
D Tier
- Undead – The Undead is considered the worst of the worst of the races in the game. You have great perks like 40% increased defense and immune to all status, but you have 75 HP. While the immune to all status is nice, you won’t find yourself in a situation that makes that useful. Other than that, you have less melee damage, less Mana and Mana Regeneration, and you’re slower than a normal Human.
