When you journey to the West in this action RPG called Black Myth: Wukong, you’ll encounter a temple in the Black Wind Mountain. This mountain is home to the vicious wolf demon beast called Lingxuzi.
The beast has one aim and that is to tear you to shreds. Like all bosses, however, Lingxuzi is not immortal and can be annihilated. With this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to defeat the monstrous Lingxuzi.
Lingxuzi Boss Weaknesses & How To Beat Guide
This guide will cover the following:
- Lingxuzi’s weaknesses
- Exploiting Lingxuzi’s Attack Pattern
- Tips to Defeat Lingxuzi
Let’s start with its weaknesses.
Lingxuzi Weaknesses
Lingxuzi is susceptible to a specific spell that you unlock by defeating a boss named Guangzhi. Defeating this optional boss rewards you with the Red Tides Transformation spell. The spell turns you into Guangzhi and allows you to burn your enemies.
Lungxuzi is incredibly weak to burn damage and once inflicted, will take additional damage. The transformation spell also provides you with an additional health bar, ultimately enabling more chances to help you defeat the wolf.
Other Spells and stances we recommend:
- Immobilize Spell
This spell allows you to deal more damage as you immobilize your enemy. This can come in handy during your fight with the wolf as stun the creature and use that window of opportunity to inflict damage.
- Pillar Stance
With a single spark, you can activate Pillar Stance. Pillar Stance allows you to raise yourself on your staff out of Lingxuzi’s reach as you eventually bring the staff down on him from overhead.
It’s important to note that this attack only stuns him for a small bit and he ends up recovering fast. Therefore avoid indulging in a long combo counter unless you can also pair this with the Immobilize spell.
Exploiting Lingxuzi’s Attack Pattern
As with any boss, Lingxuzi’s attacks follow a pattern. You can learn his attacks and time his vulnerable moments to exploit them and get a chance to deal damage. Here are some of his moves you need to keep an eye out for and what you need to do in those instances.
- Lingxuzi gets ready to howl as he sits back on his hind legs a little. When he howls, he will release area-of-effect damage. In this case, you might want to back up and let him continue. Then, punish the slow animation that comes afterward.
- After he lands a blow with his right claw, he stops to lick his paw. Use this opportunity to land some blows or hit him with a combo.
- At times, Lingxuzi will climb up to the top of the temple and pounce at you. The first time he attempts this, his pounce will be slow, allowing an easy dodge. The second time he launches at you a lot more aggressively and faster so watch out for that. All of this happens when you go down to two-thirds of his health bar.
- This beast’s moves are typically short and sharp swipes. The most useful strategy in this case is to stay mid-distance and only dive in to punish him when you know he won’t perform another swipe.
- Lingxuzi nearly always gives a small notice when he’s going to attack, whether by leaping in the air or raising his claws. The only attack that’s difficult to foresee is when he suddenly grabs you and then tosses you in the air.
- Lingxuzi drags his right claw through the ground for a full second before slashing up at you. This move is the most delayed one and you can avoid it by dodging laterally many times.
- There’s a point where Lingxuzi is at medium range and he’ll bare his fangs before sliding across to you and making an attempt to throw you into the air. If his attack lands, he will jump up after he throws you and smash you back into the ground, dealing high damage. To avoid this heavy attack, watch its mouth and get ready to dodge after you learn he’s performing this move.
Tips to Defeat Lingxuzi
- Stay in the center of the arena because you wouldn’t want to get stuck in a corner as the wolf charges at you.
- Since Mana is limited, try only using Immobilize when you’re having trouble anticipating his attack.
- Avoid spamming your dodge. The game gives players a small moment of invincibility when performing a perfect dodge. An audio cue and a brief slow-down will be an indication of your perfect dodge.
- Lingxuzi spends a good amount of time repositioning which means good damage windows for players.
- You can bait him to attack in a specific direction and then dodge to the side which will work since attacks don’t track in Black Myth Wukong.
- There’s always a small delay before most of Lingxuzi’s attack animations land, so avoid dodging too early.
Other than that, it’s all straightforward as Lingxuzi only deals in physical attacks. Nothing should come between you and defeating this boss if you’ve thoroughly read and internalized the strategies from this guide. Now, it also comes down to your combat style and we can help you master combat in Black Myth Wukong with this complete combat guide.
When Lingxuzi falls, he leaves behind a Grey Wolf Mask headgear and a Mind Core that you can collect!
