Games always try to go for the whole “realism” thing in games, but no triple AAA gaming studio actually wants to put in that much effort into making a realistic gaming. Even games that market “realism” as one of their main selling points aren’t all that realistic, unless you count the graphics being realistic. It’s usually the small, independent game developers or studios that do realism well, and DayZ is an example of that. Because holy hell, blood in this game is an actual gameplay mechanic you need to look out for.
Blood Type Chart & Blood Regain Explained – DayZ
Blood Type Chart
Just like the real world, you need to know what blood type you are in DayZ. Otherwise, you might end up causing even more damage to yourself if you don’t know what you are compatible with (yeah, they really are going all in with this realism thing). If you don’t know what blood types are compatible or not, here’s a little table for you:
Green is compatible
Red is incompatible
Blood Regain
Just as the name suggests, blood regain is the act of regaining the blood you lost (and you will lose a lot of blood when playing DayZ). Whether it’s from getting shot or getting injured from jumping off a high altitude, you will lose blood if you aren’t careful.
There are plenty of ways to get blood back, but the most common way of doing it is by using blood bags. However, you cannot just use any blood bag willy nilly. You first need to make sure that the blood bag you have is compatible with your blood type, which is why we have the blood type chart readily available for those who don’t know these kinds of things.
Other ways to regain blood is by finding somewhere safe and resting until your blood slowly regains itself. Eating food and hydrating yourself is also another way to get your blood back, but that’s a slow process.
