Deep Rock Galactic: Scout Building Guide

The Scout is one of the valuable classes in Deep Rock Galactic. It is the most versatile and can provide great damage to enemies if given the proper setup. This guide will show you the best build for solo players to complete hard missions or mining runs with your fellow dwarves.

Scout Building Guide

The Scout offers a variety of tools and weapons for the players. Making the Scout an ideal character for players who enjoy gunning down bugs while on the move. The scout is excellent in both long-range and close-range combat.

You can create your build depending on your play style. This build is ideal for solo runs and providing covering fire during fights in multiplayer:

Pro Scout Build

This is the most common and efficient Scout build you can do in Deep Rock Galactic. Using this build will maximize the player’s overall damage output, ammo, and accuracy. I prefer using this build in the game, and currently using it during my scout runs.

Weapon of choice

  1. Primary Weapon – Deepcore GK2
  2. Secondary Weapon – Jury-Rigged Boomstick

The best weapon a Scout can use for a solo run or multiplayer gameplay is the Deepcore GK2. This is an automatic weapon great for dealing continuous damage to enemies that pose a great threat to you and your team. The accuracy and fire rate of the weapon is the perfect choice for Scout players. However, players can still pick a different weapon depending on their choice.

Deepcore GK2 Weapon Setup / Mod

This is the build path you can make for your Deepcore GK2 for better overall weapon stats. This build is focused on fire rate, maximum ammo, and armor penetration for better damage output.

  1. Tier 1Gyro Stabilization provides accuracy improvement.
  2. Tier 2Expanded Ammo Bags increase the maximum ammo of the player.
  3. Tier 3High Capacity Magazine gives the player more ammo per magazine.
  4. Tier 4Hardened Rounds provide a high chance of breaking the armor of high-value targets.
  5. Tier 5Improved Gas System increases the fire rate of your weapon.

For the secondary weapon, Scout players love using the Jury-Rigged Boomstick for its close-range damage output. As we all know, shotguns pack a lot of punch in a single blast. Using the Boomstick is great for close-quarter crown control. The 2-round capacity per shot is compensated by its devastating damage, making it a reliable secondary weapon of choice if things go side way. Remember – switching to your pistol is always faster than reloading.

Jury-Rigged Boomstick Weapon Setup / Mod

This setup can make the Boomstick more efficient in close-quarter combat. Making it ideal as your main secondary weapon. However, feel free to try out the different secondary weapons base on your play style.

  1. Tier 1Expanded Ammo Bags give the player +8 max ammo.
  2. Tier 2Double trigger increases the rate of fire.
  3. Tier 3High capacity Shells give more pellets per shot increasing damage output.
  4. Tier 4Super Blow through Rounds increase the penetration of the gun.
  5. Tier 5White Phosphorus Shells provide extra fire + heat damage to your gun.

Equipment Setup

The equipment helps the player with overall mobility and crowd control situations. The following pieces of equipment are best used for crowd control or escaping situations that can get you killed.

  1. Grenade Type – I.F.G. slows enemies and makes them take more damage over time. This is ideal to use in situations where you and your team are about to get surrounded by bugs. Save this grenade for high-valued targets as well.
  2. Traversal Tool – Grappling Hook allows the scout to traverse in hard-to-reach terrain or ceilings. This tool is essential since the Scout is one of the characters that can reach high places. The Grappling Hook can also save you from situations you can’t handle anymore.
  3. Support Tool – Flare Gun provides the vision for you and your team in dark areas of the map. Use this to find passageways or provide light for your teammates.

Perks

When choosing your perks, focus on the Mobility aspect to make the most out of the utility items you will use. You can always experiment with different perks based on your playstyle. However, leaning away from the proper build of the Scout may reduce his damage output and mobility.

Passive Perks:

  1. Unstoppable – Reduced slow-down effects caused by enemies by 20%.
  2. Deep Pockets – You are expected to gather more minerals, especially in hard-to-reach areas.
  3. Resupplier – Increases stock up speen on ammo and health by 40%.

Active Perks:

These are the active perks that most pro-Scout users go with. These perks help the players reduce their chances of dying. However, feel free to experiment with active perks as they provide various options for the player.

  1. Hover Boots – Let the player hover midair for 3 seconds.
  2. Iron Will – Gives the player a 10-second last stand before going down for good.
  3. Heightened Senses – You will get a warning from enemies that are about to grab you.

The Scout may not have the best damage input like the Gunner but is reliable in neutralizing high-value targets. Making the Scout the best single target killing machine of all things bugs. Remember, the main role of the scout is to gather information about the cave and at the same time provide adequate support and damage. I hope this article helps you on your next descent into the unknown. Rock and Stone!
