As you make your way around Eternity Isle in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you start to pick up more and more items to use on your journey. Along with that is an increasing amount of interactions from Jafar, which doesn’t really make you feel safe for obvious reasons.

For now, we’ll continue on our journey inland and worry about Jafar later. The Royal Hourglass you got will be a useful tool during The Sands in The Hourglass quest.

There’s one objective in this quest may take you forever to do if you don’t know where to look. Find out more about the objectives as you read more of the guide below!

The Sands in the Hourglass Quest Guide

The Sands in the Hourglass is your next quest after dealing with The Flying Metal Nuisance. In this quest, you’ll make full use of the Royal Hourglass you got from EVE.

What the hourglass does is act like a Metal Detector that helps you pick up objects the game hides from you. Here’s a quick summary of the objectives:

  1. Reach the Secluded Beach down the passage and clear the Swirling Sands.
  2. Use the Hourglass to search the Secluded Beach.
  3. Use the Hourglass to search for Ancient Plates.
  4. Return to Jafar on the Secluded Beach.
  5. Use the Detailed Statue-Repair Instructions in your inventory.
  6. Repair the broken bridge in the Courtyard by using Mist.

NOTE: This guide continues with a detailed guide below.

Detailed Guide

Start off the quest by making your way to the Secluded Beach. You can get there by using the passage on the right side of The Courtyard.

Talk to Jafar by using one of the Hologram Stations nearby when you get to the beach. He’ll tell you to search the area for Ancient Statue Fragments.

Press “Space” to use your Royal Hourglass. It will detect objects in the ground that can’t be retrieved by a normal shovel.

The way the Hourglass works is it glows when you’re near something of value. Get closer to that item and the glow will turn gold. Meanwhile, it’ll remain blue if you find nothing of value.

If you’re extremely close, then the glow will turn red. Pay attention to where the particles are pointing as well.

When you’re right on top, follow up by quickly pressing E” to retrieve the Ancient Statue Fragment. A good location for the second piece will be to the right of the Timebending Table.

After that, Jafar will have you look for Ancient Plates around the entirety of Ancient’s Landing next.

There’s a total of three pieces you need to find, which might take a while now that you’ve opened up a lot of areas.

Luckily, you only need to find one piece per area so your search will get narrowed down somewhat.

You’ll also get a prompt telling you that there’s no more treasure in the area. If that happens, then move elsewhere.

Head back to The Dock area and try your luck on the giant tree next to the Ancient Gate. If the treasures aren’t biting, then try the well right in front of it.

Try looking outside of EVE’s house for the third piece. Go close to the shore and search away.

At this point, you’ll have a decent amount of treasure when you’re done looking around. When you get all the pieces, return to Jafar on the Secluded Beach.

Talk to him again and he’ll give you a book with detailed instructions to repair the statue. This gives you access to the Timebending Table.

It’s right next to the Hologram Station. For this part, just go to the “Quest” tab and choose the Statue’s Arm.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Player Inventory

After you finish crafting the arm, put it back in the socket. You can do that by interacting with the statue in the middle of the beach area. Finish repairing the statue and go back to the Broken Bridge.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Timebending Table

Now, you can repair the broken bridge, for a price. The price is 2000 Mists. You can get Mists by performing Mist Duties, you can find that in your Dreamlight Tab.

Gathering mists is like doing rotating quests in MMORPG games. Find the easiest set of quests you can do in order to repair the Broken Bridge for real.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Courtyard

And that’s how you do The Sands in the Hourglass quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Come back to the bridge and a cinematic cutscene will play, granting you access to another playable area!

Here we have Alexis, he's been gaming ever since the second Famicom came out. Which is probably the reason why he goes back to platformers every now and then. Somewhere down the line he started getting more and more fascinated about looking at maps change colors for three to eight hours straight. If he's not out strategizing and beating the life out of his space bar in that order there's a good chance you can find him playing an FPS or talking someone's ear out about how game balance gets in the way of realism. You can tell that he really likes getting the full experience of whatever he gets his hands on.
