With such a huge and bustling world, players have a lot to explore in the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2. As you explore, you’ll come across certain locations that are blocked by barred doors. It is not immediately obvious how you’re supposed to get past these locked doors.

If you’re stuck in such a situation, we’ve got you covered. In this Dragon’s Dogma 2 guide, we’ll be looking at how you can break barred doors. We’ll also look at some locations where you can find these doors. With that said, let’s get into it.

How To Break Barred Doors

To break Barred Doors in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’ll need to try the following options with them:

  • Use ranged attacks like arrows to break doors from the other side
  • Find alternative routes that lead to areas behind barred doors
  • Trigger enemies on the other side to break the door
  • Use glitches to get your Pawn behind the blocked door.

Ancestral Chamber Gate

The first barred door that we’ll be looking at in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the Ancestral Chamber gate. A lot of people seem to have trouble with opening this gate.

The location for the Ancestral Chamber is shown in the image below.

While you explore the area, you’ll come across a barred gate with seemingly no way to get past it. You can actually get past this easily through multiple methods.

Reload Save and Bait Enemies

Start by standing close to the barred gate.

After that, go into your menu and select the Save and Return to Title Screen option.

Once you’re back in the Title Screen, simply reload the game. You’ll resume in the exact same position you were. However, now a bunch of enemies will make their way to you from the other side of the gate, which were not there before.

Get close to these enemies and start provoking them. They’ll try to hit you when you are close. In this way, they’ll end up breaking the lock on the other side.

As for why these enemies don’t load in normally, it is possible that this is just a glitch. It remains to be seen if the devs will fix it.

Use Pawn Glitch

Another way to get through the barred gate is by getting a Pawn to glitch through on the other side. In this way, they can open the gate for you.

Start by carrying your pawn and walking into the wall next to the gate. After that, put them down and walk towards them. The idea is that you are trying to push them into the wall and on the other side.

You will need to do several attempts as this will depend a lot on your luck. However, eventually you should be able to get the Pawn on the other side.

Now select the Save and Return to Title Screen option again after pausing. After that, log in back to your game.

When you load in, you’ll see the Pawn is on the other side. This Pawn will automatically break open the door for you from the other side. You can go through it now!

Since this method uses a glitch, we aren’t sure how reliable this method will remain. After all, the developers can fix this glitch through a patch.

Throw Dead Bodies or Animals

Another way to break open the barred gate that takes advantage of a glitch is throwing dead bodies at the gate. Apparently, in some cases, the bodies will glitch out and their hitbox will end up hitting the gate from the other side.

You can even lift a deer and throw it on the gate. If you try a few times, this should break open the gate. But be warned, you might be getting a call from PETA!

You can also use this method for the other barred doors we will be discussing next.

Locked Barn Door in Vernworth Outskirts

Another area where a lot of players come across a barred door is the Barn in the Vernworth Outskirts. If you’re in Bakbattahl, it can be a bit annoying to get here. Check out our Bakbattahl to Vernworth guide for more insight.

The location of this Barn in the Vernworth Outskirts is shown on the map in the image below.

You can find this Barn near the bridge next to the fields. Seemingly, there is a ladder inside this Barn but no obvious way to get inside.

There are multiple ways to get inside and break the barred door, as we’ll see inside.

Use Bow and Arrow to Break Door

One way to break the barred door is by using a ranged arrow to break the door lock from the other side. Start by going to the back of the Barn. Over here, you’ll see a window that looks inside the Barn towards the door.

After that, start jumping in front of the window. As you jump up, time your arrow and fire it towards the door. After a few tries, you should be able to break the door open from there.

Aiming will not be possible since the window is at a bit of a height.

Finding the Alternative Path

If you do not have a ranged class, you will need to try something else. The intended way of getting through the barred door is actually a hidden path.

Start by making your way towards the nearby bridge. You will need to go down until you are right under the bridge. Here, you’ll find a secret tunnel that seemingly leads into darkness.

Go into this tunnel and look around. You should be able to find a ladder near a dead end. Use this ladder to go up.

When you reach the top of the ladder, you’ll find that you’re inside the Barn. From here, you can simply smash open the lock on the barred door.

Marshland Settlement House Door

Last, but not least, we’ll be looking at a barred door that you’ll come across in the Marshland area of Dragon’s Dogma 2.

The location of this barred door is shown on the map in the image below.

This house will look seemingly empty, but will have another ladder that leads downwards. Supposedly, there is a way to get in by jumping on top of the house. However, this method has not been verified yet.

Instead, we’ll be looking at the easiest way you can get in. You can do this by heading to the back of the House. Here, there will be a window that you can look at the door through.

Simply aim your bow and arrow at the door lock through the window and fire. Doing so should break the barred door. After that, you can get inside and get all the goodies. There’s even a Ferrystone here that you can get.

If you weren’t aware, there is a way to make Escort Quests much quicker with Ferrystones.

That’s everything you need to know about breaking Barred Doors in Dragon’s Dogma 2. If you come across any other barred doors, the methods outlined here should help you out!
